Instead of complaining about fellow students and their rude behaviour in labs/classrooms, get up and say something!
Approach the person/group politely and ask how they are doing. Let them know you are trying to study and would appreciate it they could keep it down a little. If they don't listen, ask them a second time. Speak loud enough so other's in the room can hear you. This will "encourage" them to be quiet as others might also speak up. If they don't quiet down, mention Policy 71 and the guidelines regulating student behaviour in a learning environment.

What ever you do, don't be miserable and let people ruin your day. Get up and do something about it!

The concept of wearing make-up kind of confuses me. Yes, it enhances our features, but guys don't have to wear it, so why should we? I feel as though wearing make-up can really take a hit on some girl's self-esteems, making them feel as if they are only beautiful with it on. I experienced this once and that's when I decided to never wear make-up again.

Yesterday I witnessed the UW nerd equivalent of a 'drug deal': girl was sitting on a DC lobby bench and there was a guy standing near a column with some bags. The guy eventually approaches her, says hi, and asks her if she is so and so. She says yes and he asks to check her ID. After she's been cleared, the guy proceeds to take out the coveted item from the bag: a higher end Radeon GPU. She takes it, final pleasantries are exchanged, and they part their ways. At the time I was wondering what could a girl possibly use that for? Sims 3? Then I remembered that she was Asian and could probably kick my butt in any competitive game.
