MODs: OMGUW is no more! We will no longer be accepting and posting submissions. The site will remain up for your reading pleasures. On behalf of all the MODs present and past, we would like to thank you for 7 great years together!
More like a big shout out to the absolutely toxic scum of humanity who made it impossible to visit this site without reading another post about how all non-white people and women are biologically inferior.
Huge shout out to the mods! I've logged in periodically over the last 5 years and learned a lot about this place we call home. Sad to see OMGUW go, but maybe UW-specific posts can live on in https://www.reddit.com/r/uwaterloo/
Bye OMGUW and thank you! This site has been a big part of my University career (that means by procrastinating) from 2010-2014.. After graduation I've just visited periodically. Sad to hear it's closing down. Like someone said, shout out to RL.. best shitposter. Shout out to the mods and everyone who's made the site great.
This. OMGUW was a great way to procrastinate during my undergrad (2011-2014) and brought me lots of joy. I still have been following the site after I left UW and I will admit that I could feel the community slowly dying (not sure if it was because of lack of mod activity or lack of post submissions). Sad to see it go but it was fun while it lasted. Really enjoyed the days when there would be updates every day.
Time to move on. I've enjoyed dropping by once in a while to read the comments on here in their raw form. So many other forums have become too heavily moderated while OMGUW stayed in true form, plus the fuckers always shadow ban me. Oddly enough OMGUW was the only thing about UW I liked, I even found the site after I dropped out. But thanks to all the mods and those who've helped maintain the site over the years. It's been appreciated. Kudos.
It was a good run. I remember that cold February day in 2009 sitting in my dorm in first year when I heard about the site and checked it out. Finally I could hear the voices of my fellow students. I realized that we all procrastinated. We all procasturbated. We all had problems with sex. We all had problems with self-esteem, fitting in, cultural identity, drinking. We laughed, we shared, we cried, we supported each other. No commercial gains, no status likes. Just pure anonymous chatter. We all had gripes about the school and the administration. It was finally a fresh, open, honest, brilliant critique of this place. A breakaway from the official line put out by the marketing department - innovative this and that. This site is an archive of the thoughts and feelings of some of the students at the University of Waterloo, and should be preserved for posterity. I'm surprised it lasted so long, but it was a heck of a good run.
Big shout out to the SJWs and Dr. Laura for helping this site close down.
ReplyDeleteSheer neglect is what killed it, really -- people aren't going to bother visiting and posting if they never see any new content.
DeleteAlso at some point, someone is going to get lazy and stop paying for the site/domain, so even the posts and comments will vanish.

Delete^you're biologically inferior to the scum of humanity? shame.
DeleteSite jumped the shark when names were allowed to be posted.
DeleteBiologically inferior in some ways, biologically superior in others. Like females are worse at math but better at getting triggered.
Delete@e: i can't believe u still post here!
