  1. It still exists? Not sure what kind of update you were looking for.

    1. Any UW management actions focused on the Counselling Centre?

    2. A new management structure was established at Counselling Services this summer. Is there an official UW announcement that can be linked here? Any issues with doing so?

  2. 1b I don't think there was a formal announcement so this is from memory. The UW Counselling Centre management team is now:
    Director: Dr Tom Ruttan.
    Associate Director: Cheri Bilitz.

Manager coordinating Training and Supervision: Dr Tracy Morgan.
Manager coordinating Quality Assurance: Dr Kathy Winter.
    Manager coordinating Intake: David Mackay.

Each of the above managers has deep experience and competence, and have each proven themselves in the roles they'll now be performing as managers, and I wish them every success.

    1. Excellent! I expect Dr Morgan's promotion puts to rest once and for all any further talk of continued reprisals by UW
against her for her human rights complaints against UW and her co-worker. Clearly UW has resolved her situation and done the right thing.

    2. This also lays waste the view that Mr MacKay has any lingering anger toward Dr Morgan since the incident 9 years ago.

An argument trotted out over the years and first by Dr Morgan was that he's been second in command at Counselling Services, with power over her.

By that argument he could have stopped Dr Morgan's promotion. But he didn't, and neither did the Director.

This demonstrates there is no reprisal. This is good enough for me for me.

    3. lmao. if she didn't get the promotion then it's because UW is mad about reprisals from nine years ago. if she did get the promotion it's because everyone else let her. typical sjw stupidity.

maybe she was promoted due to her professionalism and credentials? wow, what a concept!

    4. ^People are actually agreeing that staff ought to be promoted based on professionalism and credentials. Competence and experience. It's just great that the other things you mentioned didn't happen.

Good job UW and in particular the gentleman listed above who were responsible to rise above: Ian, Chris, Walter, Tom, and David.

  3. Re Dr Tracy Morgan's promotion to Manager. Well that took a while! I'm sure she could have made a great Associate Director, but this is great.

I'm one of I'm sure many lurkers on this site, but I had to post today.

A powerful and big move by senior UW admin, even above the Counselling Services director's level. This is not to be understated.

I'm sure the Counselling Services promotion decisions had to be approved by all of those overseeing Counselling Services management. Ian Orchard (VP Academic and Provost), Chris Read (Provost for Students), Walter Mittlestaedt (Director of Campus Wellness) and Dr Ruttan's boss.

They've taken a lot of flak on this board over the last many years on this exact point: on the surface doing nothing to alleviate Dr Morgan's situation. But they've been working behind the scenes.

So give them credit. They came around and acted their conscience in the end. Promoting a whistleblower takes guts. Big men and I'm proud of them all today.

    1. bullshit. state some facts about your assumption. they promoted her because she's a whistleblower? links/citations please.

    2. Uh I'm sure they didn't promote her *because* she's a whistleblower or launched a human rights complaint, but they didn't hold that against her. That's important.

    3. i no rite? i'm so glad they didn't hold it against her that she's right handed and not ambidexterous, or that she drives a car rather than a bus, or that she has hair rather than being bald. omg uw is so progressive.

  4. I just saw Dr Morgan's public profile on LinkedIn, with her 7 page CV. Her publications and presentations go on for pages. As does her university service. Easily the most qualified for Manager, Training and Supervision so this was an easy decision by the hiring committee.

  5. I don't see how this news helps keep female students safe at Counselling Services.
