OMG:

#OscarsShouldNotBeProportionalRepresentationOfMinorities

  1. The Oscars are the hollywood in crowd rewarding other members of the hollywood in crowd. Assigning it any more prestige than that is just silly.

    1. This. It's like a student society awarding the members/volunteers they like the most, who are invariably the ones who are closest with the clique in charge. The Oscars might be entertaining but they're ultimately a giant circle jerk.

  2. #KeepOscarsWhite

    Fixed that for ya.

  3. Yep, it shouldn't be! Why are they so ridiculous, oscars should simply be given to the best performers instead of trying to even it out to look like this politically correct BS.

  4. What's hilarious is that the number of black Oscar winners IS actually already proportional to the black population in the US.

  5. The problem isn't really that the Oscars were not representing different races. The problem is the movie industry isn't giving equal opportunities to people of different races.

If they can't even act in a movie to begin with, they have no chance of being nominated for the Oscars.

    1. Yes, and...? The movie industry has no obligation to give more opportunities and roles to people of different races, only to make more money. And, considering the millions made around the world from big movie blockbusters, the majority of consumers are perfectly fine with the current situation.

    2. The movie industry does have an obligation, but it isn't only to make more money. It is a major influence on our lives; it is a part of the media. There is a problem when a Native American, is being represented and portrayed by a Caucasian person. Obviously the movie industry will still make money regardless. But since the beginning of the industry to where it is now, there is a huge difference (positive) on the representation of different races. The majority of consumers are not all "perfectly fine". That's why this issue is even being brought up in the first place.
