Honestly, your real friends will understand and stay by your side. If they do not understand the fact that you want to focus on building a better future for yourself, then you do not need those type of people in your life anyways.
Thanks for the advice, it actually helped a lot. Looking back on the last 4 years, most of the friends I lost were in much easier programs or weren't in school and therefore never truly understood how much work I actually have on a daily basis.
Lol what? Friendship is a 2 way street. You don't prioritize your friendships but you expect them to prioritize you? Make time for your friends dude, you're not as busy as you think.
This. Almost no one I spoke to in school had that much more stuff on their plate than me. I then added 9hrs of varsity practice on top of it and still had time for friends. Unless you're one in a thousand you're not actually working on a Friday/Sat night.
I was going to say, if school is a full-time job then that's 40hrs/week. Factor in even 8hrs each day on the weekend that's still 48. You work 22hrs/week on top of school 8hrs/day 7day/week? If so then you're a champion.
70 hours a week means you can still have over 5 hours a day where you're not sleeping to do stuff with friends. Go plan something then. Or plan something when you have a 50 hour week instead of a 90 hour week.
What you choose to do with the free time you have (and you do have it) is up to you. If you choose to not use it on the things you want, what else are you expecting?
preach
ReplyDeletegood. you're a piece of shit and deserve no friends
ReplyDeleteWhy is it bad to prioritize your career and school?
DeleteI do the same. With only an hour or so of free time a day I'd rather watch tv.

DeleteLol. "If your friends don't understand how self-centered you really and they don't stick around then they're really not friends at all." - UW logic.

DeleteI spend about 70 hours per week in school or working. I am also unable to study straight so no multi hour breaks.

DeleteAgreed with 4b. In my undergrad (biochemistry), 70 hours of class/homework/studying per week would be average
Deleteand biochem isn't even half as hard as engineering
