OMG:

I'm sick of all the people in Waterloo who can't drive and/or act like assholes on the road. King street has been under construction for months now- I see all you assholes who try to speed ahead of everyone in the closing right lane and then cut off traffic trying to get into the left lane. Just stay in the left lane if you know they right lane is going to close- it's not rocket science. And stop constantly pulling out in front of and cutting off people- the time you save by doing this isn't worth almost causing traffic accidents.

  2. To be fair in many places around the world it's standard practice -if not law- that in heavy traffic all lanes are used right until the closing lane ends, and that it is expected at that point for cars to alternate. It's called zippering, and its damn efficient if everyone knows whats up

  3. It's more efficient use of space. A lot of small town folks think it is rude to merge late but we do it all the time in Montreal and Toronto. Not to mention other parts of world where it's so crowded. Get more knowledge.

  4. Zippering is the best way. It's not rude, it's efficient. Too bad people are hotheads who have no idea how things work.

    1. No, it is rude. It shows no foresight and you're just cutting in front of people who have been waiting.

    2. Why are they waiting? Oh right, because two lanes of traffic needlessly squeezed into one three blocks before they had to, lengthening the choke point and limiting the amount of available road for the traffic volume.

Light to moderate traffic? Sure get over early if it's not going to impede flow. But if there's two lanes worth of cars use two fucking lanes and zipper, otherwise you're just going to have one lane backed up.

Problem is that they don't teach it, so right of way is yielded instinctively and confusion ensues

    3. OP here- my post was a bit ambiguous so I am just going to clarify what I meant. Zippering is great if, as you said, it works. That's not what I have issues with. What I see happen all the time when I'm driving up King lately is people who are driving in the left lane before the lane closure- so traffic is still moving- pull out into the right lane approaching the lane closure and try to speed ahead of everyone else in the left lane, then cut back in front of people in the left lane, causing everyone to slam on their brakes. Hopefully that was a clearer explanation.

I honestly wish people would learn to zipper through that section of construction. But the fact of the matter is that it doesn't happen because apparently very few people in Waterloo actually know how to drive.

  5. Waterloo has some horrible drivers. Brought my car for the first time and I definitely have noticed the difference between here and Mississauga.

    4. Japan has the most aging population of any country in the world. That right there is an example of what failure on a national scale looks like.

  7. KW traffic isn't really that bad, not unlike anywhere else outside of the GTA.
