OMG: My roommates watch loud TV shows and talk loudly in the night, sometimes as late as 4am. Whenever I tell them to be quiet, they will turn down the volume a little bit, still loud, then turn it up again soon later. I have tolerated them throughout the term, but I'm extreme frustrated when they do this the night before my 9am final. How do I deal with them?

  1. You should pull the fuse for power to their room out. Can't watch loud shows with no power.

  2. LISTEN FRANK, WE HAVE THE RIGHT TO WATCH WHATEVER WE WANT. STEP OFF

  3. Roommates always suck. Try to live alone if you can. It's the only way out.

    1. 3's right. Don't be a cheapass and spend some extra money.

Seriously, it's for your own safety. I used to spend my first-year in waterloo's residence sleeping while a lonely fellow made very sweet love to the floor's microwave.

  4. it's a bitch to deal with but unfortunately if they're not responding to you asking nicely there's not much you can do without making a bit of a hostile environment which can potentially make things worse, that's the bitch of having inconsiderate roommates but you can empower yourself by buying a pair of soft earplugs they're good for drowning out noise and aren't too uncomfortable to wear

  5. Basically, earplugs. If they don't care about being assholes you're more or less powerless. Just finish up exams, get things packed up, then play some *insert genre here* music on full blast at 4am. They come out of their rooms to see you sitting in an armchair drinking scotch and flipping them off.

    1. OP here. That won't work, since they are also UW students and they finished their exam and moved out before me. But anyways, it's over now.

  6. Having lived with the most pathetic scumbags for roommates I have ever encountered in my entire life, I have finally moved out and will be living alone. Take it from someone who knows: LIVE ALONE. You will thank me later!
