    1. Those couches were completely ruined. Most of them were broken, and the leather had decayed on all of them. They needed to be replaced with *something.* And the Faculty had been leaning on MathSoc for YEARS to make the comfy *less* comfortable, since campus police/plant ops had been upset about people sleeping in the comfy for quite some time (it's a fire code violation, and can land the university a massive fine... which would ultimately get passed back to MathSoc, and paid out of your student dollars).

    2. A "fire code violation"? Ok, I didn't know. I wonder who comes up with this crap? Are they afraid that if there is a fire people will not hear the alarm and wake up? It makes no sense.

    3. seriously why do you people even want to sleep on these couches. That is disgusting. Just go home to sleep: there is absolutely zero reason to sleep in public like an animal or homeless person.

For the record it is certainly a fire code violation. There are standards for having alarms be loud enough to wake people who are asleep. Normal fire alarms simply are not loud enough to wake up everyone.

The only thing that "makes no sense" is you filthy fucks staying in society instead of being cast out to the elements.

  2. Lol you people are disgusting and pathetic. Couches should be used for people hanging out or chilling together and maybe even a club playing a game or having a presentation. They're not for your dirty ass to sleep on. Take a shower and sleep at home like a normal human. If you're studying all night like that you must really suck at your field or you just suck at studying and need to reevaluate yourself. Get some dignity people. I've never seen a university besides Waterloo act like that.

  3. If you can't sleep with a bit of noise, sleep at home. There is no good reason to monopolize a school space for your sleeping.

  4. Wow, you sleep on those things? Imagine all the people you don't know who farted on those chairs. Now think about those who took it to the next level, or doesn't believe in wiping. Now, think about those who sleep there when it's empty and awaken from their slumber requiring to relieve themselves. Will they get up to walk all the way over to the bathroom, then all the way back to have trouble getting back to sleep from all the walking or just unzip and let it out, then slide over to the next seat? That's right, it's not a comfy lounge, it's a comfy washroom.

    Enjoy, sleeping bitches!

  5. What this tells me about 4 is that they'd rather shit the bed and scoot over than go to the bathroom like a human being.

  6. the area is for chilling, not sleeping. If my chilling disrupts your sleeping, i dont give a fuck. Go home. It's not a fucking nap room.

    1. oh fuck you. you've got the whole campus for "chilling". leave that room alone.

    2. Given that the whole campus, including the lounge, is not your bedroom, I'd say that 6 has it right.

  7. If you're on campus at 2am and need to 'catch some Zs,' then take 15 minutes and GO THE FUCK HOME FIRST. There is literally no advantage you could possibly be gaining by staying on campus in that state.

The MC isn't rated as a building where people can sleep, under the Ontario Fire Code, meaning all the people above saying "the campus isn't your personal bedroom" are 100% right. It's a lounge, where people can relax and chill between classes or study sessions. Sometimes it's a place where people choose to study, as well. If you choose to break the rules and sleep in there, don't get pissed off at the people using that room for it's *actual* intended purpose.

  8. "2 am in the morning..."

So...is there a 2 am in the afternoon?

  9. Amen. That room is the nap room.

  10. Trying to nap in the lounge isn't really a problem, but getting pissed when other people don't treat a lounge like a bedroom is stupid. If you don't want to be disturbed while you sleep, maaaybe don't sleep in public.

  11. If you sleep in public, you deal with the consequences of being in public. Stop being so selfish OP, they had just as much of a right as you to be there and to do whatever the fuck they wanted, just like you.

  12. You know... it's possible that he didn't really think of the fact that there were people sleeping in the room and wasn't just trying to be malicious.
