OMG:  Sorry, but I cannot respect construction workers. Why do we pay for 10 guys to stand around watching one guy work? Because each one of them has only one damn skill. If only half of them had the mental capacity to learn to twirl signs AND dig a hole, they'd be twice as efficient.

    2. Don't worry 1.a. you'll be serving coffee to those same construction workers after you've received your "degree" from UW.

    5. 1b, 1a didnt say he/she is in arts. How do you know he will work in a coffeehouse?

    6. Its because 1b is a construction worker, and they can only think of one job thats still beneath them.

  2. You've obviously never worked a manual/skilled labour job in your life. I highly suggest you try your hand at it before disparaging those who are responsible for creating and maintaining the infrastructure you depend on. Incredibly naive view.

    1. Second butthurt retard

I'm certain I'd be better at their job than they are. When I show up for work, I don't stand around smoking cigarettes joking with my buddies for 5 of the hours I'm there.

  3. Haha OP probably has the physique of a twelve year old girl, the manual dexterity of a fridge door, and wouldn't last a day signing OR digging a hole.

They'll continue looking down on people all their lives as they fork over money to do household tasks that they're too much of a pussy to look after themselves.

  4. Working outdoors with your hands is actually really rewarding and difficult at times, OP. You should try it.

  5. Do you like having roads to drive on and buildings to live in? If so, shut your damn mouth.

    1. I am not OP and have no idea about what s/he's talking about but seriously this is not an argument!
It's like saying "Do you like being alive? If so, shut your damn mouth and don't criticize doctors who would charge 1k for each minute in an operation room"

Note that the doctors thing is not something I researched or that I believe. It's just that saying you shouldn't complain when you're paying for a service is ridiculous. And construction workers are very far from being the ones who provide the most value for society.

    2. That makes no sense. Many people will never see doctors in their lives to "keep them alive". Everyone will use roads, live in houses. I'd say that's a pretty valuable contribution to society.

    3. @5.b So basically everything that we use on a daily basis is more important than something we only use once or twice? Is your hair brush more important than the fire extinguisher in your building?

If you had to choose between having no hospitals or having no roads what would you choose?

  6. Don't worry, OP, I get what you're saying. These monkeys should learn how to be more efficient rather than smoking pot and drinking coffee all day long. Those workers are disrespectful, inefficient and a huge burden on our society. A simple road will cost millions of dollars - much more than the physical labour is really worth due to these draconian labour unions. Don't work as doctors, lawyers or engineers people, construction is the real way to get money for nothing. Don't worry about posters 1-5 OP, their mammies and pappies all probably work in the fascinating and innovative constructive industry. They just want to be proud of inheriting their family construction business - haha.

  7. A good tradesman with real skill should be respected, but a lot of construction workers, especially those employed by the city or paid by the taxpayers are extremely lazy and sit around doing jack. Those people are indeed a burden on society.

    1. As is any public servant who fills up their day with meaningless 'activity' that accomplishes nothing. Which is most if not all of them.

  8. Considering the decay of our infrastructure in Canada over the past decade I would think that these construction workers most likely have more job security than the bulk of university graduates. At least for the next five to seven years or so with future projects slated. But hey, at least you have a degree and can look down on these peasants right?

    1. The job security is why almost all of them are fucking terrible at their job.

Why do a good job when you can't get fired?

I don't look down on them because I have a degree. I look down on them because I had manual labour jobs, and there is no reason I should have been better at it after 2 weeks than people who have been there for years.
