OMG: Straight up, dj whitegold fucking sucks. PLEASE BOMBER, GET A NEW DJ he is ruining bomber wednesdays... WE NEED MORE HH AND RNB. i dont even care if its top 40. just no more shitty music.
While were at it, can Bomber get all new staff too? Bomber Wednesdays are ruined for me by the grumpy smug and inattentive bartenders and the power-crazed bouncers. The bartenders are so rude and take forever to get drinks and the bouncers will kick people out for no reason. Thisweek my DD was kicked out (he wasnt drinking!) so all of us had to cut our night short The only reason I keep going back is cause I always run into people I know there so its full of familiar faces
If you act intoxicated or do something dumb, you will get kicked out simple as that. Its not about being power crazed. Its about protecting the property and the alcohol licence. If you want to, Phils is just a few streets across
Yeah except no one's talking about that. Being asked to leave Bomber while stone sober has been a common feature of the shithole since I was a freshman.
He's actually so shit. I guess that reflects the music taste of students here. Bomber Wednesday's are like middle school dances. I'm not even into the clubbing scene but goddamn the last time I went to the Bomber this motherfucker was playing fucking Flo Rida
Ever thought that maybe 'top 40' is 'top' for a reason? Ain't nothing wrong with playing popular stuff... it's fun being at events where everyone knows the music.
@4a: "Ever thought that maybe 'top 40' is 'top' for a reason?"
Because the best-funded labels can afford to strike deals with radio stations, DJs, distributers, and producers to make their music popular? A good DJ would play more than top 40 because they know that there's better music out there than top 40. The fact that it's not as popular just means that the artist/label aren't a bunch of cheap sellouts.
Better by whose standards? Yours? The most object measure of what is most popular are the charts. You can't ignore the fact that it includes sales and streams as well. Like it or not, its what the majority of people are listening to.
I fucking love DJ whitegold, he reads the crowd well and gets people dancing every single week. HH gets played but its top 40 as you said, and RnB is not always suitable for dancing. There's a reason why popular music is popular. Themed nights exist go to those for specific genres but otherwise the dude's got to cater to the general preference and tbh seeing how love the dancefloor gets he must be doing something right. He's also NOT cheap (know someone who's hired him) and has gigs 6 nights a week which speaks for itself.
DJ Whitegold is probably all they can afford. What the bomber needs to do is start being open on weekends, get a DJ who actually knows what the fuck they're doing, and have weekend events that people would actually want to go to.
UW is always trying to figure out how to get more people hanging out on campus, I'm surprised "Have a real bar" never came up in discussion.
Try approaching uw admin with the suggestion of having a real bad and let me know how that goes for you. They don't want us to have a reputation as a party school and their strict policies on alcohol sale and consumption on campus reflect that. Sometimes it's out of students' control. That's what you get when the school is run by a bunch of out-of-touch, idealistic, old rich white fucks.
Fuck that, I'd rather have DC open 24/7 than more intoxicated apes in SLC. Waterloo is not a party school. If you want to party, save the tuition money and go elsewhere.
"Coming from Toronto...." Haha your hometown does nothing to validate your "appreciation" for what amounts to terrible poetry recited to mediocre music
Thank you! I've always hated that guy's DJing.

DeleteYou don't have to be drunk to be an asshole. People can still grope random chicks or get in peoples' faces when sober.
DeleteI love bomber and DJ whitegold has 4 nights a week on lock in this city. He must be doing something right.
ReplyDeleteHe's actually so shit. I guess that reflects the music taste of students here. Bomber Wednesday's are like middle school dances. I'm not even into the clubbing scene but goddamn the last time I went to the Bomber this motherfucker was playing fucking Flo Rida
DeleteApparently it doesn't matter where you go, there will always be people who are weirdly judgemental of other people's tastes in music.
Delete@3a: Fucking amen, +1
DeleteAgreed. This guy loves replaying top 40 of the past 3 years over and over every single week.
ReplyDeleteEver thought that maybe 'top 40' is 'top' for a reason? Ain't nothing wrong with playing popular stuff... it's fun being at events where everyone knows the music.

DeleteHe is cheap. Bomber is cheap. You are cheap. Get some fucking class and go chill in high end places if you that concerned.
ReplyDeleteDo you apply this logic to everything in your life? "Welp nothing should be expected to improve ever so I'll just accept mediocrity".
DeleteCan confirm, his prices are more than reasonable. But ya DJ's can become disconnected from what club goers want sometimes, everyone has off days

ReplyDeleteSounds like someone has never gone anywhere else but Bomber Wednesday lol
Delete@4a how so

Delete7a basically has it right. Feds owns the Bomber, but UW owns the liquor license, and they're EXTREMELY strict with how it gets applied.

DeleteNo fun allowed, 7.c wants to study. Impossible to both party and be successful.
Deleteimpossibru
DeleteToo bad HH and RnB suck giant hairy donkey balls.
ReplyDeleteComing from Toronto I fucking hate everything 'Top 40' in this shit hole. People here have no appreciation for rap or hip hop, smh.
