OMG: So many people on this site complain about people making noise where they shouldn't, but I suspect that only 1 in 20 actually tells these people to be quiet.
If someone's talking in the library or in class, tell them to be quiet, don't go online and passively aggressively complain about it, because that doesn't achieve anything, and they probably aren't going to see it anyways, so you aren't really solving any problems...
No student is supposed to police other students. It's not my duty nor any other student's duty to confront other disruptive students. And also, by posting here, you can actually solve problems by telling them how much everyone hates them for doing such things.
ReplyDeletewhat are the chances they'll see it on OMGUW vs the chances they'll get it if you tell them face-to-face. It's not your duty but it's not hard either. Just be like "excuse me could you quiet down, I'm trying to study and this is the silent study zone". What do you think they're gonna do, fight you???
DeleteI tried once.
ReplyDeleteIn DC downstairs, there were a bunch of brown guys loudly talking and laughing. I told then to be quiet. I found that only encourages them. They wont stop at all. Douchebags.
yes, it's always a group of tamil people, especially in DC

ReplyDeleteLol. People know how much of a joke UW is in general as it gets media attention quite a bit. When I visited back home during my brief stint at UW I would be asked all sorts of weird questions because all the news about UW was about rich entitled immigrants, flagrant cheating on exams, terrorism, perverts taking pictures, or corrupt practices connecting to the federal Conservatives. Outside of Waterloo this institution is a joke.
