OMG: Too many Feds staff are also past Feds executives. You want to talk about a "Feds Circlejerk?" Look no further than that.

  1. What are you talking about? To my knowledge, there is only one former executive who is now a full time staff (Director of Commercial Operations).

    1. So is the Clubs Director. And the Orientation Manager. To name two right off the top of my head.

    2. 1a - I don't know if you are OP or not, but what is your point then?

    3. 1b, just further proof that Feds only REALLY seems to care about helping Feds, when all is said and done. Service to students, if it happens at all, is really just accidental at this point.

    4. 1c - I don't disagree that those were probably acts of patronage that seem shady, but the conclusions you draw seem illogical.

Rather than those people being given these jobs just to help Feds (in which case we would probably see way more than just three staff), it is more likely that these people know and understand the jobs well and are the best people to do them.

It seems like you just have a bone to pick with Feds to be perfectly honest.

  2. Feds has an internal requirement that you need to be a member of Feds to be hired.

    1. That isn't true, based on other hires in previous years. It looks like the recent hires are all just past Exec/Exec candidates.

      Cough, nepotism, cough.

    2. Name one time they hired someone who wasn't a Feds member.

    3. 2b, pretty much all of their accounting staff, IIRC.

I think you're confusing this with a pre-existing UW HR process that Feds follows: new positions accept applications internally before they are opened up to the general public. So any Feds or uWaterloo staff member (provided they've been full-time for at least 1 year) gets a period of time to apply for a position before that position is opened up to the general public. If they find someone internal who suits their requirements, they usually don't keep the application open.
