OMG: Whoever you may be, I hope you are having a lovely day. I know life can be hard sometimes...you are stronger than you know, try to trust/believe in yourself, and please don't be afraid to ask for help.

  5. I hate shit like this. I'm having a bad day because I'm too broke to afford food this week, so unless "asking for help" means that your'e going to go buy me a weeks worth of groceries, you can fuck right off OP

    1. Sorry to hear about your situation, 5.

No, but "ask for help" could mean swallowing your pride a little and going to the food bank. "Ask for help" could mean asking a friend or a counsellor to listen to you vent for a while. And yes, "ask for help" could mean asking someone you're close to if you could borrow some money to help you out of your pinch.

The point is that, when it feels like the world has let you down, sometimes looking within yourself and reaching out to others can make things a little brighter, even if it doesn't provide an immediate solution to the problems at hand. There's no need to jump down the throat of another person because they had the gall to voice that sentiment when you were in a bad mood. Your situation may be beyond your control (obviously I don't know you, so I dunno), but it's certainly not the OP's fault.

    2. Go to the food bank 5. There's nothing wrong with asking for a little bit of help when you truly need it. I've been in the same place as you, moved out from Alberta, away from making close to six digits, to come out here for school and be next to broke. It's not easy, but you'll make it. Just don't become bitter over it.

    3. I'd buy you a week full of groceries... If you post an email address on here I'll get in touch.

  9. @OP: I have been carrying a suicide note in my wallet for the past 6 years just in case I get in a situation I cannot get out of.

    1. That's a really bleak way to look at life, 9. There honestly is no such thing as a situation with no way out. There is always a way to adapt to your present situation, whilst forgiving its imperfections and striving for something better.

    2. You would be surprised. Becoming homeless is not that much different from a 70 year prison sentence, for instance.

    3. Also, I carry the suicide note partly in the event I am killed. I would rather my killer get out free and my death be misattributed to societal problems such that I can be an activist in death.

    4. @9c That's all well and good until, having gone free, the killer goes and kills someone else who's a little more attached to their life. Idiot.

    1. The word you're looking for is stupid. When they find someone with a gunshot wound and a suicide note in their wallet I'm pretty sure the police won't assume suicide by invisible gun.

    2. 10a, especially when it turns out the mugger who killed this idiot in the first place stole their wallet.
