Animal cruelty is disgusting. I hate Canada Geese (HATE), but I would never wish suffering on any animal. The fact that you would speaks volumes about your character and empathy.
In the most basic sense, because animal cruelty is the hallmark of a sociopath? The law is more complicated than that, but to cause purposeful harm to an animal without any reason than just to cause harm indicates a dangerous person.
It's not a 'crime' in that it does not violate the Criminal Code. However it is illegal (I believe the relevant law is the "Migratory Species Convention Act") to destroy migratory birds without a permit
5.b is correct. It has to do with our hunting laws. There is an open season on them in the fall. They're good for hunting. They come with a bag limit of 20.
Why the hell is everyone assuming this was "animal cruelty"? Was the goose boiled alive or something? For the most part, pain sends animals into shock and they can even die of the resulting cardiac arrest rather than injuries. Its pretty shitty, but its hardly the same as keeping animals in terrible conditions.
That's fucking shitty and so are you OP.
ReplyDeletethat's HORRIBLE.

ReplyDeleteit's just an animal for fuck's sake.
ReplyDelete"police are investigating" yeah nice work there, real important stuff
Animal cruelty and killing Canada Geese are both federal crimes, in all fairness.
DeleteSomeone please explain to me why this is a crime?
ReplyDeleteI'm not being sarcastic or anything, I'm genuine curious about the Canadian law system.
