  1. No surprise there. They say academics lean left, and there is a reason for it. Left leaning theories, general tolerance and acceptance, they are generally associated with greater understanding of issues.

  2. Academia has a left-winged bias because in a long run, the system always converge to the intolerant side. If you have read about James Watson, you will understand my point.

    1. Also, if you look into the political stance among the fields in academia, you will find the "dumb" programs are way more left winged: the spectrum is like arts/humanity --- economics --- STEM

    1. Not all conservatives are bigots, but most bigots love their conservative values

    2. This is 3. Yes, it is true that most bigots are conservatives, but the article suggests that conservatives are more likely to be unintelligent, when in fact the studies just show that unintelligent people are more likely to be conservatives.

Which, I suppose may mean that the average conservative is less intelligent than the average liberal, but it doesn't mean that conservatism is the less intelligent stance.

    3. 3a here, the study is pretty shoddy, no argument here. Seem like someone justifying their prejudices. I just happen to agree with them :P

  4. 'most bigots are conservatives'

And most people totally intolerant of conflicting opinions are liberals.
