OMG: Someone has to say it, because we're all thinking it: the guy who hosts open mic at the Bombshelter probably shouldn't. The first few times I thought maybe he just couldn't sing because he was drunk. Now I'm convinced he's just bad. On top of that, he doesn't stick to the schedule at all. What's the point of having it if he's just going to put himself and his friends in whenever he feels like it and force people who actually signed up to wait? I don't know how he got chosen, but the hosts the past couple terms just seemed a lot better.

  1. I think we should all just contact the Bomber's manager to see if we can get him removed

  2. Honestly, though, he's really hurting Open Mic with how he handles himself there, and with how he handles the advertising elsewhere

  3. Yeah he's really unprofessional. Check out the FB page right now, he doesn't even know who won one week. Also he was quite rude to us when we were signing up to perform.

Does anyone know if he'll still be hosting next term?

  5. The host should do a duet with Iggy Azaela - then she'd sound good.

  8. He's definitely bad, both as a person and as a host. My boyfriend actually saw him for the first time 2 weeks ago, and said "he saw doucheyness come to life", his words

  9. Normally I don't waste my time on people like you but since you clearly don't know what you're talking about let me correct you:
First, he has put more advertising out there than any previous host. He spends hours every week posting announcements on Facebook and networking with people to bring in new talent. In fact, the Facebook group just reached 300 members thanks to his efforts. On top of it, he was solely responsible for organizing the guest judges and prizes last term and is now spending hours of his own time to make an even better finale for this term. For the simple minded such as yourself, that means he does more work in a week than you'll do in your entire university career (assuming you actually make it through).
Second, it is completely absurd that any of you are judging his character based on one weekly interaction. He cares more about open mic and the people performing on it than any of you can imagine. He is continuously putting others first and always goes out of his way to make a better experience for other people. So what if he swears and tells people to applaud? We're all supposed to be adults here. We can fucking swear as much as we fucking want to.
Third, you are a fucking coward. Open mic is a place for people to express their creativity and have fun. How dare you hide behind the internet and try to bring another person down. Get out from behind that anonymous label and stop wasting your time on omguw. I find it completely laughable that you can dish it out but can't take it. I see you deleted the comment from Kyle, which I'm sure was something telling you to go fuck yourself. So let me reiterate: Go. Fuck. Yourself.
Finally, since I assume a coward such as yourself is going to delete my post as well, you can come discuss your issues with me in person. I'll be the bartender no longer serving you on Tuesday nights. My name is Janna.

    1. He's continuously putting others first, except the times when he puts himself first to go during Open Mic.

Nobody said anything about his swearing, it's his rude attitude that needs to change. Clearly everyone who posted here had similar feelings about him.

You're right, I can't judge his character from one weekly interaction, but he's the fucking host. If this is his first impressions, then why the hell do I want to become friends with him to get to know him better?

Lastly, yeah, we're anonymous. Nobody is going to come out and say who we are because the absolute truth comes out when there's no repercussions. The fact that someone actually took time to post this says something about the host, not us.

    2. OP can't actually delete comments here. Only Kyle can delete Kyle's comments.

  10. ^That isn't nice, but I disagree with her, since she's blindly defending her friend.
Not serving someone because they have a different opinion? That's absurd.
Also I'd like to point out that no one here has been rude/calling people names except for people defending Mitch. We all just voiced our opinions politely.

  11. Very unprofessional of all parties involved at this point.

  12. Agreed, I personally don't like him (only performed twice, a couple of months ago), so I'm not the best judge. But no need to disrespect anyone, anonymously or otherwise. Interestingly, the ones who do are not even anonymous.

  13. Dear Anonymous,

I've already had my say and posted it in the Open Mic Facebook group, but just in case you are not a member, I invite you to join and read it. Don't worry, this term the amount of members of the group has tripled so any new additions won't give away your anonymity.

I had a lot to say at first, but it just doesn't seem to be worth it anymore. I will say though that nothing you said will have any effect on how I run Open Mic, my employment at Bomber or as the host of Open Mic, or how I view myself. The only thing that actually got to me was how someone out there went after my character; who I am as a person. I mean don't like my singing. Meh... Opinions are like tits on a nun... fucking useless, But for someone to say I am a bad person? That says a lot more about you than it does me. I may rub people the wrong way, but I can at least say without a shred of doubt that I would never go out of my way to deliberately and maliciously bring pain to another person. You, whoever you are out there, have failed to do whatever it is you have set out to do, unless that goal was to rally 4 or 5 people that kinda don't like me. Fuck...I can't walk into a family reunion without that happening. I'm okay with who I am. I speak my mind and I believe in what I say.

Ricky Gervais said: offense is taken, not given. I kinda like that saying. I didn't mean to offend anyone and as much as you would like whoever reads this to believe, most of the stuff you said on here is just plain untrue. That's mostly why I don't care enough to even defend myself. Anyways, I hope you cheer up a bit and get that stick out of your ass.

    Cheers

    1. It's easy enough to say it's just one person commenting on his own post, but four and a half stars after 44 votes is hard to argue with.

  14. Don't forget to bring as many haters as you can to sit in the shadows tonight and quietly mutter your distaste for me as I give away studio time, an interview, and spotlight video posted on YouTube to some lucky winner. It's the Battle of the Bands Finale at the Bombshelter Pub starting at 9pm. Whatever you do though, don't clap... your fingers are better used typing anonymous hate mail. Hope to unknowingly see you all there!
