    1. Sure, but when everyone you know spends Friday and Saturday night studying it's hard to have any fun.

    2. People got shit to do. Find people who have your schedule to hang out with.

Don't get pissy that people want to make something out of the thousands of dollars they're paying to be here.

  2. Nope. There are some pretty amazing universities in Ontario.

  3. UofT is much worse. At least there is somewhat of a campus life here, most UofT students are local commuters...

  5. I've done 3 years in a college in Toronto and 4+ish with co-op in Waterloo, and no, Waterloo is way more depressing than other institutions. Don't care what other people say about "it's what you make of it", you people don't know what to make of other places, get a life outside Waterloo.

That's an impressive misuse of at least two expressions! I've had an amazing time here and while I probably would have had just as good a time anywhere else, Waterloo does provide a much nicer hard-working student to douchebag manboy ratio that any other university I've seen. I'm not counting UoT because Toronto can eat a bag of dicks and you'd have to deal with its general population anyway.

I don't think UW is "more depressing that other institutions". There is just less of a culture of debauchery. That said, there is more than enough debauchery to go around if you look for it. Hell, join Laurier for theirs. They're as much a part of the area's culture as we are. If you never look, or never leave campus than it's kind of your fault anyway.

  6. Judging from the feedback of friends that I trust to be honest with me there ARE universities that are far less depressing than Waterloo. They have their drawbacks too, but they aren't nearly as depressing as this place. Didn't occur to me back in Grade 12 that there'd be THAT much difference. Damn.

  7. I don't know why people find this university depressing. There are plenty of intelligent and fun people you can meet, befriend, and hang out with. In most programs you can take less courses if you find your studies too challenging. Personally I've had an amazing time at Waterloo

  8. Hey, we could be York, where TAs will go on strike, fuck your class schedule for remainder of the term and try to fight you for actually giving a fuck and trying to go to class. I know UW is boring and lacks of any resemblance of school spirit or social activities, but I am happy we aren't getting shot inside the SLC, try joining a club, some of them are actually fun.
