MODs: Hey. We're starting a new project on OMGUW! The Best of will document the best (or worst) that UW (and beyond) has to offer (Same thing blogTO is doing for Toronto). How it works: we will post a category and have you suggest the best of that category that Waterloo has to offer. We will then take all the suggestions and have you vote on them. The top 5 of the category will be posted in a new section of the site for future reference. For the first week, we would like to know: the best place on campus to get food.
Suggestions will be open till Monday. Voting starts on Tuesday.
- Luv, MODs.

Mostly overpriced unfortunately but I wish Festival Fare in SCH was more well known, it's pretty good compared to the rest of campus. Otherwise Tim Horton's and Fed Express are pretty good value on campus, especially if you completely overfill your bowl with mac & cheese from Fed Express.
ReplyDeleteCan't beat cooking your own meals though.
ML!
ReplyDeleteI second ML, their food actually tastes healthy and is a reasonable price; they also have friendly service
DeleteML is good, except they have extremely slow service.
DeleteGrilled cheese on sour dough. Mmmmmm....
DeleteI typically agree, but last time I was there I ordered a western omelet and IT HAD NO FUCKING HAM ON IT
DeleteML! except they are SO SLOW and don't wear gloves which is fucking disgusting
Delete2e: I don't get where this idea came from. Wearing gloves is actually less hygienic for food prep than washing your hands regularly...

2a: The food "tastes healthy"?
DeleteAnother vote for ML!
DeleteIn increasing order of taste and price:

The Jolly Chef at DC makes a mean grilled chicken sandwich.
ReplyDeleteFestival Fare = Good food
ReplyDeleteAny C&D (ex. Arts C&D, Science C&D) = Cheap food
V1 Caf = Selection
Burger King.

DeleteI would have replaced Tim Horton's with a McDonald's if you elected me instead of Carly.

Campus Pizza is pretty good I hear.
ReplyDeleteOnly at 4am when you are drunk and studying for a midterm at the same time. Hic!
DeleteI am an Engineering CND loyalist because it is so cheap. The restaurants in DC are alright.

ReplyDeleteI really like the pasta bar in SLC. No idea why, guess it's convenient and I tend to eat a lot of pasta. But obviously, just being a pasta bar, it is not all that varied.
ReplyDeletemath cnd samosas mmm
ReplyDeleteML > Bomber > Grad House
ReplyDeleteML: specifically for their poutine
ReplyDeleteLiquid Assets Café, in the School of Accounting and Finance addition to Hagey Hall, serves a great selection of excellent soups (e.g. Wicked Thai, lobster bisque, green curry chicken, spicy crab corn chowder, etc), sushi, wraps, sandwiches, pizza slices and samosas. The staff are friendly and service is pretty quick unless you hit the absolute peak of the lunch period.
ReplyDeleteInternational news in slc for those cold pastas (e.g. pad thai). a bonus if you volunteer for a feds service and get 10% off.
ReplyDeletecnd for chilli or mac and cheese
how the fuck do I get that discount without having to do stupid FEDS stuff
DeleteFind a job at International News. They almost hire every term.
Delete@17a Volunteer for a service, it's not that difficult... and maybe it'll make you less of a misanthrope
DeleteGH or uni club! If I had to pick a food services location, definitely Festival Fare.
ReplyDeleteEnvironment Faculty Coffee shop! Samosas and curry dishes can't be beat.
ReplyDeleteI too vote for the ENV Coffee Shop!
Deletedefinitely the bomber, prices are basically what you pay elsewhere on campus but the food is better and you have a server etc
ReplyDeleteanywhere but campus pizza
ReplyDelete-genius
How about desserts? I always crave those cheesecake cups you can get in SLC or DP (chocolate cheesecake with chocolate chips).
