Trolling aside, I was interested in seeing if anything does exist beyond the university-controlled "incubators." Perhaps something between various universities in Ontario or such?
There is always a trade-off for funding. Whether it be for access rights for co-op placements, future 'donations', or simple bragging rights in media outlets. My question is if there is a club that consists of students wanting to be successful on their own and not in some artificial setting set up by the university.
There are plenty of VCs outside of the university, y-combinator being the most famous. There's Accelerator Center and Communitech in R&D Park but those still have a bit of UW affiliation. I'm sure there a lot more.
lol UW innovative? lol
ReplyDeleteVelocity? 4th year design projects? Accelerator Centre?
DeleteIt's people like you that ruin the value and image of our school.
^ UW ruins the value and image all on its own

ReplyDeleteUniversity gives a lot of money to start-ups without asking for equity. I'm not sure what you mean by "university-controlled."
