OMG:
I don't want a clubs library in the SLC.

  1. Most people don't. Problem is, not enough people showed up to vote that shit down at an AGM, so it now must happen. Unless of course someone put a motion at the next AGM to stop that shit.

  2. Out of curiosity, why? It's a service that clearly a number of campus organizations want, and the space being used for it was just really poorly organized/utilized study space. If people want more study space on campus, go to the library, or just use an empty classroom (and advocate to the university to be more consistent about leaving them unlocked).

    1. Study space is the ideal use for the rooms in the student building. No contest.

    2. I'm still not entirely sure I understand why? There's a ton of multi-purpose space on campus that can be used for studying, whereas a clubs library is something that requires dedicated space and infrastructure. Also allocating a ton of space to studying seem against the spirit of a "student life" building

    3. If you want to call something ideal, you have to appeal to some definition of ideal. Do you mean it will appeal to the most people? If so, what about the fact that even if it appeals to the most people, the stake (how much those people gain or lose) by not having that space compares to the stake of the minority? The library can not exist without space, and will provide a service not currently offered. There exist no alternatives. Studying does not have this issue. Do we expect that by losing a single study room, people are now going to be failing midterms and quality of life on campus is going to actually perceptibly drop? I can guarantee it will raise for people with the clubs library, and quite a bit for the clubs who use it.

  4. My vote goes to the VPIN candidate that will shut down the clubs library lol. (So not Jessica)

  5. It can't be shut down unless students vote to shut it down at a Feds General Meeting. The VPIN doesn't have the power to do that

  6. Well, there is a better room for the library that wouldn't take up study space and could integrate club locker space, and additionally would free up more space as study space. Jessica wanted to use this room for her library idea, rather than the room it is going into now.

  7. I want a clubs library in the SLC. 'Bout time we can get access to WATSFIC's Stargate SG-1 VHS tapes and CTRL-A's anime laserdiscs.
