OMG: Thanks for plowing my sidewalk about 23 hours after the snow storm city of waterloo. I guess students have to pay for your shitty make work jobs.

  1. In most cases, it isn't the city that is responsible for clearing sidewalks, but the property owner. If it is the city that owns it, then they are responsible to do it, but if it is the sidewalk in front of your house, it is you/your landlord's responsibility.

Furthermore, considering how much already is spent on snow removal, and ACTUAL problems of snow removal (I've seen some streets go for a week without getting plowed), 23 hrs really isn't much...

    1. I wasn't complaining that they did them too slow. I was complaining that they did mine, which means I have to pay 125 for the clearing.

  2. yeah, sidewalk is usually land owner responsibility. Also roads kinda take priority

  3. Shouldn't have left it to the last minute then. You have 24 hours to clear it yourself. Suck it up.

    1. Maybe you should learn how to read before you write stupid comments.

  4. How many warnings have you had before this? They only enforce based on complaints, so if you got shoveled it means you've been neglecting the sidewalk enough to piss off your neighbours into reporting you. Don't be a dick and just clear your walk.

    2. It's not the land owner's sidewalk, the city owns the first few metres in at the front of the lot. If the city puts a sidewalk there and expects people to use it in the winter, then they should have full responsibility for clearing it. Think of it as a road for people. If the city can't afford it, then they shouldn't bother with putting in sidewalks in the first place.

    3. ^^ That's a reasonable philosophical position but not good legal advice. Waterloo region has bylaws that delegate sidewalk snow clearing to the resident.
