OMG: so my TA is super cute but the course is over and I don't know what excuse to use to meet up with him...

  1. Send an email, say that now that the course is over you want to ask him out for drinks. If it was a big lab then they might not know who you are, and will probably say no. If it was a small lab, and they knew everyone by name, and your marks are good, and you didn't talk while they were teaching, and you are attractive, and you have talked to him besides class participation, he might say yes. But most grad students won't date an undergrad. Don't get your hopes up. Being a guy, I can speak for most of my gender and say if he doesn't date undergrads, he might be interested in a "hit it and quit it" sort of situation if there is attraction.

    1. I am a grad student and I'd totally date an undergrad. Or rather, I wouldn't preclude someone just because they are an undergrad.

  2. As a once and future TA, I've got to say that only the flimsiest of excuses is necessary, including no excuse at all. Just be direct. I realize email is not ideal but if that's the only way you can contact him then it'll have to do.

My only bit of extra advice is that you should wait until you are sure that all marks are in. Likely this means waiting til the new year.

    1. Where are TAs like you hiding? Seriously

  3. As a previous TA, I wouldn't mind grabbing drinks with a student that I talked to face-to-face before (or even at least MET them). However, the chance of him saying no is likely if he doesn't even know you.
