OMG: Please don't wear huge winter boots in the office on co-op. They are loud, annoying, and very very unprofessional. Leave a pair of shoes to change into at work if you need to wear the boots for the commute.

  1. Where do you work? Winter boots have been the norm everywhere I've worked.

    1. Any job where you are inside a warm building all day without having to worry about stepping in snow or a puddle. Maybe some of us have a job lined up that needs boots for a workshop or outside work, but most of us will have office/lab jobs where simple closed toe shoes are standard.

  2. Norm footwear across campus is anything you want. This includes sandals, dress shoes, work boots, winter boots and rubber boots. Consider this: perhaps the reason you are posting this on an anonymous site is because you are unprofessional by looking for things to complain about instead of focusing on your work. You know, that thing you do for which you are being paid? What do they call that? Oh yeah, a profession!

    1. I am posting to help everyone look professional and be good ambassadors for our school this winter term. When everyone in the office is wearing dress shoes or clean running shoes/flats and you are wearing large boots that you can't stop from scraping along the floor with every step, it makes you look bad. It is also very distracting when you walk around everywhere making loud scuffing noises.

If this was campus, I wouldn't care, we need to walk outside between classes and we can't all have lockers on campus to put extra shoes in.

  3. Hey OP & 3a? Shut up you stuck up stuffy prick. Not everyone has the money for a nice pair of shoes, and those who have some might need to take the bus and are not able to grab them with everything else they're carrying.

Unless they're doing their work with their feet, it's none of your business. Get some earplugs and shut the fuck up.

    1. I don't see everyone wearing boots during the summer, they do have shoes to wear. They can just leave them at work, I don't know anyone who doesn't have a bit of room in their backpack for a pair of shoes while on co-op. They don't even have to be nice shoes. Go to Walmart or thrift store and get something. It is part of the expense of dressing for the job, which is currently PAYING you.

To me its not about the sound annoying me as much as seeing blatant unprofessionalism coming from UW students.

Why should people in the office get earplugs when they need to talk to each other just because the new co-op student can't be bothered to bring shoes to work.

I don't give a fuck if you wear boots on campus, its not really reasonable to change into shoes for each class when you have to run across campus in 50 minutes.

    2. What 4 is trying to say is that there are far more important things in the world to worry about. If the sound of someone's boots is pushing you over the edge then you need therapy. Who cares what it says about their image? It's not your image. It has zero to do with you. You're making it about you with your weak arguments over how terrible it is because you're an insecure little bitch with no life.
