OMG: If I'm being completely honest, I've felt super lonely since moving to school. I like my classes, I like my major, and I'm on a sports team. I just feel really alone, like I haven't made any friends (except my roomie) and it's starting to catch up with me. It's making me miss highschool and the small web I had going on there.

  1. not surprising. u are out of your comfort zone and at uni most of the people are busy with themselves. so, it's harder to make friends in uni than in school.

  2. I've been here for four years now, I haven't even made roommate friends. I know no one in my major, and I wish I could at least have team mates. But it's honestly alright, I'm going to assume that you're in first or second year, it's hard being in a whole new city for school, but it'll be alright. Being alone is okay.

  3. Maybe u just need some friends on the side. Sometimes you can have everything and its still not good enough. I think that once ur in a relationship u will have less time for friends. Give things a chance to grow and be a good roomie. Continue to be a good person, i'm sure things would change.

  4. You should consider finding a club that interests you and attending its meetings. There are lots of people who go to these things hoping to make friends.

  5. OP, I feel you. I was in the exact same position in first year -- liked my classes, my major, and I was involved in a few extracurriculars. But I still felt lonely. It was rough for 2-3 months, but keep in touch with your friends and family back home (or dive in to more activities at uni). Do what you feel is best at the moment, and I promise things will get better.
I'm going into 3A soon and I am very very glad that I stuck it out and I'm still at UW. I love my program even more now and I'm happy to say that I have a few very close friends that are lovely people.
    All the best,

  6. My mom is my best friend.
