OMG: Am thinking of coming to waterloo next fall and wanted to know if there are any Nigerians who actually left Nigeria and not the ones born in Canada. Just want to know.. how their big leap affected them.

am currently in Nigeria

    1. Normally "Nigerian from Nigeria" would be redundant, but in this case it works

    1. For internation students life is impossible hard in Waterloo. No Canadian experience, moving all your shit around for each coop without having a permanent place to call home. List keeps going.

  6. OP. Nigeria has been declared Ebola free and I personally don't think that engineering would be that tough.

  7. I have two Nigerian roommates... Used to have three. Two of which were from Nigeria. They didn't go to UW, instead they went to Conestoga College (a college in the area). The roommate who does go to UW has been living in Canada before attending post-secondary school.

Why are you looking to talk to people specifically from Nigeria? You will likely find Nigerians on campus if you look. You might be better off contacting international student organizations in general or looking into the Feds clubs and asking members of those clubs.

  9. Wow @ everyone calling them a prince, kind of a dick way to introduce a student who is hoping to move to Canada/Waterloo for the first time to our community. Assholes.

OP, I know a handful of Nigerians from Nigeria in my program (mechanical engineering) who seem to all be well-adjusted to things. You'd definitely be better off asking this question to UW's African Student Association (http://uwasa.uwaterloo.ca/) because they could probably set you up to chat with someone so you can ask them directly.

    1. No? He meant it made sense because OP is looking for someone born in Nigeria as opposed to Canada.

  11. OP here,
6a I wouldn't mind the challenge because growing up in Nigeria ain't easy, and Nigerian education is all about struggle and perseverance. So in I can make it here, I can make it anywhere.
