To be honest, lots of Skype and phone calls and we text a lot, but I know that isn't always possible depending on how far away we're talking. Another thing I do is indulge in things I can't do around my boyfriend - like, he's allergic to peanut butter so I don't eat it when we're together. When I miss him I treat it like a comfort food :)
It's really important to keep yourself distracted. Go out with friends, exercise, study, take up a new hobby...all of these things keep your mind off it, and they give you something to talk about when you are together :)
Look into synaptop! I use it to talk to my best friend all the time and she lives in Brazil. It's like skype but also with streaming videos, drawing, video messages you can leave for each other... and there's no software to download as it's all browser based. I love it, personally, and it keeps my friendship alive. I'm sure it could do the same for your relationship!
snapchat is a big one for us -- it feels like i'm still connected to his life when i see him in class/in his dorm/doing whatever
we also watch netflix together, we time it so our episodes are playing together at the exact same second and then we text-chat on skype about the episode as we watch it. just finished all of breaking bad :) it's a good way to do something "together" since sometimes you run out of things to talk about
Boyfriend is in Montreal basically full time for his job. It's hard. Distance is not an easy thing to handle. Like #4, snapchat has been very helpful, just glimpses of our daily whatevers. Weekly skype chats, and phone calls. I definitely miss him a lot. But I deal with it by just having that constant knowledge that there is someone there for me, and with all sorts of messaging now it makes it more convenient to contact each other.

ReplyDeleteWell of course it's hard, you need to play with it more.

I did this, but we had the skype video open. I don't think I watched any of the shows. Just watched her.

ReplyDelete"Whatevers" might be the most creative word for "penis" I've heard yet.
