OMG: Use the centre door on the bus unless you have a really, really good reason to use the front door. Unless the centre door is unreachable because of your location on a crowded bus, do not use the fucking front door. If I have to watch one more asshole bump into some poor parent with a stroller I'm going to lose it.

  1. I do it so I don't have to shout "thanks" to the bus driver

    1. Where does that come from?! I swear nobody was shouting "thanks!" from the center door last winter. I come back to the loo and now everyone is doing this.

    2. Clearly, you and I were never on the same bus last winter. I've always done this.

    4. 1a, people have done this for the past 4 years I have been here

  2. Same, as long as there isn't a large-ish group of people or someone requiring priority seating waiting to get on.

  3. I highly doubt that the welfare of the occasional stroller concerns you so much that everyone must ALWAYS use the center door. Someone just seems bitter.

It seems to me that being in close quarters with strangers puts you (and frankly, everyone else it seems), on edge but there is no need to go get mad at people for doing what EVERYONE already does.

  4. op here. there is specifically a sign telling you to exit by the centre door and it's annoying as fuck trying to get on a bus when someone comes bolting out the door and almost runs into you. i've taken to waiting a few seconds before boarding for this reason but it doesn't always help

why is it so hard to understand the front door is for boarding and the centre door is for exiting? it ensures people aren't running into each other and the bus is moving smoothly and efficiently

i honestly really thought you guys would be with me on this

  5. Exiting by the front door of the bus is acceptable if:

    1) The bus is extremely crowded, and you're much closer to the front door than the back door (i.e. if you can just slip out the front door when it opens, do); and/or
    2) There is nobody waiting to get on the bus (and either all of 1 applies or the bus is virtually empty).

If you're closer to the back door, in any situation, you should always use it. If only scenario 1 applies, then the people waiting to board should wait for you to disembark before getting on, as a matter of common courtesy.

Pushing through people so that you can get off through the front door is never acceptable.

  6. I agree, but you should also wait to get on the front until anyone getting off has debussed.

  7. Doesn't matter. You should always wait until everyone has gotten off the bus before getting. This is the only rule here that is universal. It should never be a problem if the people waiting to board wait for everyone to get off first. It's simpler. People will continue to use the front for varying reasons. I do agree the centre door should be used, but I bike and I use the front door when I need to remind the bus driver that I need to get my bike.

    1. +1. Don't know why OP is in such a hurry to get on the bus that he/she has to stand right in front of the front door when the bus comes.

  8. Screw that. I will exit the closest door. It's up to the people outside to wait until the bus is vacated before stepping onto the bus. Plus, I'm tired of the 4x4 Mega SUV strollers that take up the entire front section of the bus when it's clearly rush hour.
