OMG: Prof put an exam on the Friday before the long weekend until 9 pm. She offered to change it, but a some students said they had midterms on the other day offered so they would prefer it to be on the long weekend Friday. (The majority wanted it changed- it was a minority that wanted it the 10th) This would be okay if I lived in Toronto or Waterloo and could go home whenever, but I live much farther away and won't be able to go home at all now (was going to leave Thursday). So fuck you, selfish local assholes.
I get where they're coming from. Some people aren't as attached to their family, and would rather do well on their midterms. Having two exams in the same day is usually pretty shitty.
ReplyDeleteI'm a local as well, but honestly that's not really fair to the other students. If these people cared so much about their grades, then they should've started studying way before the midterm, and having it earlier/after the long weekend shouldn't really affect their performance, regardless of when their other midterms are.
DeleteYes, but how about having 3 midterms in one day...can you do that?
Delete@1a: You know, it's not really fair to international students since they can't visit their families during 4-day long weekends. How about we make long weekends at least 10 days long?! Then everyone will be able to go home!
Delete1c lol, that's not even possible. We'd either have to write exams right up until New Year's, (not possible because Christmas), or we'd have to start Fall classes in August (not possible because Spring co-op).
Delete1d he knows it's not possible, he's being sarcastic - op is entirely selfish (we prefer democracy to the alternative anyways), there's probably other students with other reasons for the chosen exam date who are giving up something anyways, and not to mention hundreds of other students won't even go back on the long weekend because they have assignments and exams. suck it up, you're in university not daycare, your needs aren't special
DeleteBut based on OP's story it was democracy. They said the majority chose to move the date?
Delete^ (I think) the way some professors work is if the midterm date was originally set on the syllabus and they want to change it, they'll take a vote from the class. If it's an unanimous yes, they'll change it, if not, they'll keep it the way it was because students have already made plans around what was originally promised. I had a prof do a similar thing to ask if it was okay if the exam was moved from exam week to during the last week of class. Only, his method was that anyone not okay with this should speak with him. That way, you wouldn't know if it was just one person or half the class who wanted it to stay the same.
Deletewoah that sucks. :(
ReplyDeleteyou sound pretty selfish yourself
ReplyDeleteYeah really, both OP and the people OP is talking about were looking out for their own self-interest when they made that decision, OP is just butthurt
DeleteOp is a mammas boy
ReplyDeleteOP is a butthurt selfish faggot
ReplyDeleteFap Fap Fap Fap Fap Fap Fap Fap Fap Fap Fap Fap Fap Fap Fap
ReplyDeleteagain, nice
DeleteI haven't seen my family in three years. Get over yourself OP.
ReplyDeleteProfs have every right to schedule a midterm on that Friday. You should never have expected to be able to get away on the Thursday. Note how the long weekend begins on a Saturday.
ReplyDeleteCHEM 331?
ReplyDeleteIf the exam was changed and those people didn't do well because they now had to prepare for two midterms on the same day, they'd be saying "fuck you selfish assholes who wanted a long weekend".
ReplyDeleteWhy there are people so selfish to post this? Do they think it is too easy to pass in math?

ReplyDeletemath isn't that hard. but op is in the wrong for pouting like a little bitch.
DeleteHave fun on co-op when you won't be able to take the time off to go home until the end of the term.
ReplyDeleteI never understood it when people say this. Taking time off during co-op is totally fine if you're on okay terms with your boss. You can always work something out too. I had a friend who worked a little longer every day so they could take a scheduled day off every week or two.
DeleteMonday is the holiday.. not Friday
ReplyDeleteStudy instead of wasting time at home - they're doing you a favour.
ReplyDeleteDoes somebody need a whambulance?
ReplyDeleteYou are a student therefore studying should be your top priority, not going to home. Those people have a very legitimate reason to want that exam time and your reason is nowhere nearly as good as theirs.
ReplyDeleteThat Friday is clearly identified as a class day. You knew this at the beginning of term. Even if you hadn't had your midterm that day, you'd have still had class.
ReplyDeleteSooo... suck it up?
I'm skipping the Tuesday after for a longer long weekend so I can go home and guess what -- I actually checked my midterm dates before I made plans!
