OMG: We received a call here saying that today there was a red-tailed hawk on the ground outside of Dana Porter library. People thought she was injured, but when we arrived it was determined she had caught a squirrel and was trying to eat it. There was a large crowd of people taking photos. People, if you see this occur, please keep moving and do not crowd the hawk. She was very nervous with all the people around, and if they feel threatened, they may abandon their kill which can have negative consequences for the bird and any chicks they may have, or there is a chance they may attack someone who is too close. Remember these are wild animals and should be treated with caution and respect.
Thank you. K-W Humane society

Poor squirrel, Why are hawks even allowed on campus? The official bird of the University of Waterloo is the goose. Waterloo honks!
