OMG: KW4Rent said they would return my key deposit to me by the end of the month ... Should I keep waiting until the first week of October or just report them to the OTB now?
Wait until the end of the month, then go ask your landlord/property manager what's up if you still don't have it. Do this in person, not via an e-mail or anything else.
If they try to delay/flounder/give you crap after that - then report them.
Wait until the end of the month. If they don't give it to you, then call OTB(whatever that is) These housing companies like shitting on us 'cause we're students. that's why Schembri keeps on bullshitting
1b, in my experience about 96% of life's problems can be solved by initially assuming that the other person *isn't* trying to screw you over, and correspondingly acting like an adult.
Before running to an oversight body and starting a long and frustrating process, OP should try just walking into an office and asking what's up. That seems to work more often than not.
If your lease has terminated already, file with LaTBoO ASAP, as you have a limited amount of time to file your complaint in. If your lease has not yet terminated, then you have no reason to be concerned yet.
Just go to the office and talk to them. I wasn't given my deposit on the time specified when I signed with them too but I was given it in person when I went into the office and explained to them. They didn't mail it apparently.
Right, because we all have enough free time to go to their office and nag them whenever we need something done. I had to do this for getting furniture, getting me Perks Card activated, and literally everything else.
KW4Rent is a smart organization in terms of business deals they have made across the city. But they are a horrible organization in terms of customer service to students.
i haven't received my deposit back either OP :( I asked them about it and they said they will probably mail the cheques by the end of september.........so perhaps wait 1 more week?
It's always better to assume good faith at first.

ReplyDeleteThis. Make sure you don't miss a deadline.

So you would rather go to the hassle of going to a board and expend more time and resources. Right, because we all have time for that.
DeleteI didn't say anything about their customer service, I'm just saying don't jump to conclusions if there are easier alternatives to solving the problem.

ReplyDeleteJust stop by their office and confirm that they mailed it.
DeleteReport them and never do business with them again. They're full of shit.
