OMG: Do not sign up for those 3000 credit cards in the slc. They are evil, I just payed mine off in full after a year. Beware of the 19 percent interest. I was stupid, don't be.

  1. Signing up for those isn't stupid -- you'll need to develop some sort of credit history. Your mistake was that you didn't pay off your balance every month.

    2. I disagree with this. The credit cards they try to offer you in the SLC are specifically targeted towards students. They prey on students' desperation in the hope of keeping young people as clients in the future. This means they want you to spend more than you can.

By all means, build credit. Get a credit card, but don't make that decision based on the sales tactics in the SLC. Do your research, find a card that works for you and don't spend more than you can afford to pay off.

  3. My first credit card was one of these that I was approved for back in 2011. I still have the same card and have had absolutely no trouble with it, as I have made sure to pay off the balance in full every month.
I recommend signing up for one if you are looking for your first credit card (after reviewing the terms/conditions), as you are almost guaranteed to be approved.

  4. I don't even... Did OP not understand what a credit card is or something?

  5. I agree OP, you were stupid to not pay your credit card bills on time and rack up the interest fees you agreed to pay if you didn't pay your bill on time... Don't develop bad habits like this.

  6. Yes you were stupid. You should know how credit cards work in the first place, and 19.25%/year interest is pretty much standard these days.
