OMG: Was having a dream about sex. Woke up and realized I should have taken my birth control pill an hour ago.

  1. it doesn't matter if you take your birth control pill 1 hour or even 5 hours late. Seriously, talk to your doctor. It's only a problem if it's >a day.

    1. That's not true. Some pills are more sensitive than others.

    2. 2. I would like to think that your comment is coming from a good place; perhaps you are trying to make OP feel less anxious but I know from experience that your statement is not only incorrect, it is also dangerous. I got pregnant during my second year while on Tricyclen -no missed pills, just a two hour delay...once. Granted, the odds of this happening are so small that I made the deliberate decision to continue intercourse as usual, with no other barrier methods (besides my daily BCP). I was convinced that conception under the circumstances described was virtually impossible. I really wish OP does not have to go through the same things I did.

    3. 2b: that doesn't necessarily mean it was due to you taking your pill a few hours late. even with proper usage, bc isn't 100% effective, and i think tricyclen specifically is not often used for purely bc (acne sometimes i think?? i might be confusing it with another bcp though)

op: call your pharmacist. way more accessible than a doctor, and probably more knowledgeable about your bcp too.

    4. This. Your pharmacist can tell you whether or not it's something you should worry about.

    5. No, the time definitely does matter (less so if you're on the combined pill rather than the mini). Slight time delay and it's *probably* still okay, but you might want to use a condom or something next time just to be safe. Learn from 2B!
