OMG: I believe everyone should have a psychedelic trip as part of growing up

  1. Partially disagree. If you consider your 20's as being part of growing up then yes, but I don't think teenagers should take a psychedelic trip. My first experience with psychedelics was Salvia, which really put life into perspective, but I don't know if developing minds would react well to an intense trip like that.

    1. +1 .. friend fell into my arms on salvia thinking he was spaghetti and started squirming thinking he's gonna get eaten

    2. Salvia is not very good in terms of psychedelic experiences, specially first-time - might be part of the reason it is legal

  2. OP here, #2, yes I consider late teens and twenties as still growing up, I'm not advocating child drug usage. I was thinking 21 +- 3 years.

Ew Salvia. Definitely not a good time... Try mushrooms or LSD. It's too bad Saliva is the legal one, it may open your eyes but it doesn't really teach much or allow for spiritual or mental development.

    2. Really? Guess you should send a memo out to all the head shops to stop selling it..

    4. The article itself even says everyone still sells it. Hence why I said maybe you should go notify people if you actually think the legality of it matters.

    5. I was just commenting on that #3 said "It's too bad Saliva is the legal one". It's not.
LCD, shrooms, weed, etc., are all fairly available, it's not like dealers do a particularly good job of hiding themselves, it's just nobody really gives a fuck.

  3. smoked weed everyday, and tried salvia and shrooms a couple times by the time I was 18.

I don't think it did me any harm, but I wouldn't really suggest doing that for most people. For some, like me, it might actually be the perfect time to experiment.

I'll add that I didn't even drink at this point so I wasn't slowly getting retarded like most of my friends who did, and that probably has something to do with why I was able to handle psychedelics in a semi-mature way (as mature as a teenager can).

Just graduated with a BMath, nobody would even be able to tell how much I like to trip balls.

  4. DMT, the one, the only true great teacher. Master of all, tour guide of all creation.

  5. How about you don't do drugs and grow up that way? I think it worked pretty well for thousands of years before the hippies. Give it a try sometime.

    1. Actually people have been using drugs for thousands of years lol. LCD is fairly new, but there are reports of Romans eating psychedelic fishes, Aztecs consuming DMT, etc. etc.

    2. Ignorance.

People have been using drugs for thousands of years, and it is even suspected to be a major turning point for our intellectual evolution.

    3. Lol, who cares.

I'm very liberal and support the legalization of pot. Regardless, drugs are bad for you and I'm not interested in that sort of experimentation.

To each his own. Let every person do what they want to their body. All I know is I won't be touching a pill or a joint any time soon.

    5. Actually, many cultures around the world have involved psicoactive substances deeply into their traditions (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eleusinian_Mysteries#Entheogenic_theories, there is of course all of shamanism as well). Modern Western culture is one of those cultures as well, with alcohol consumption being pretty much required at many of its rituals.

  10. Given how delicate neurons are and how easily they die, in general, most drugs and some contact sports like boxing and football are bad for your brain. Although you might not notice the decrease in mental acuity over time since you're so smart already, it is occurring.

  11. You don't do drugs because they're good for your health, you do drugs to have an experience you would otherwise never have had.
