  1. Depends. I decided to not even bother applying for OSAP since UW is giving me $13,000 for my graduate program (and fees per term for me are less than $3000). That's leaving me with enough money for fun upon occasion.

  2. depends on your definition of fun life OP. u have to manage you money really well to make it break even by the end of each term.
and u will get OSAP, but the amount will be reduced since u own a car.

and here is an unnecessary advice/suggestion to you - if you want "fun" and "money" than don't do grad study. it's worse than undergrad. get out of school with an undergrad degree, find a job that pays sufficient, and find "fun" stuff to do.

  3. Get a more reasonable car. Also, anyone else notice this post is basically saying "Look at me, I have a nice car!"

    3. Yeah, people who don't judge others for having a nice car are absolute bores.

    1. If you have a nice fucking car then you don't need OSAP. There are people (like me) who have shitty everything and are swimming in debt because of school, and I don't appreciate people who don't need student funding taking it, and having this shit attitude about it.

    2. 4a here,

'If you have a nice fucking car then you don't need OSAP. '

      That's not true:

. #1, The definition of a 'nice car' varies from person to person. A project car that's a dream to person A can be just a pile of junk to person B.

#2 That 'nice car' may be all the financial aid he's receiving from his parents. I'm sure you're aware of the concept of depreciation, so selling it to raise funds and finding oneself careless and in the hole isn't an option.

'There are people (like me) who have shitty everything and are swimming in debt because of school,'

Yes, so? If you can't afford it even after student loans and need-based aid you really should take a look at your living habits and whether you're even fit to go to school.

'and I don't appreciate people who don't need student funding taking it,''

OSAP is mostly loans dude. It's not yours in the first place.

'and having this shit attitude about it.'

His attitude isn't shit, you're just projecting.

  9. Why do people assume OP has a "nice" car? Just owning a car, even if it's a shitty one, pretty much makes you ineligible for OSAP. It's a stupid reason too. Like what do they expect, sell your car to pay for education?

    1. ^This is 100% not true. I have a car and have gotten OSAP for several years. It's based on more than simply owning a vehicle, and sometimes a vehicle is necessary for getting to school or getting to work while in school, or just being a normal grown up who also goes to school. Not every university student is a single childless unemployed young person living on campus or in student housing, and OSAP finally smartened up enough to realize this.
