OMG: Today a random person walked up to me on campus and asked me a series of technical questions about their degree program. I had my laptop, so I pulled open the website and we walked through everything.
Then I realized: if I'm willing to be that helpful to a stranger, maybe other strangers would be willing to help me? I usually assume that everyone would be nonreceptive if I approached them out of the blue. Am I wrong?
I'll help. unless you ask me as I'm running to get to my exam location (i'm usually just on time for these things).
ReplyDeleteWierdo...
ReplyDeleteI will help people if they are polite and respectful about it. I can only think of a handful of times where I have turned someone down outright.
ReplyDeleteBesides, helping others is a great way to build up a network on campus. You never know when you might be stuck at the side of the road with a flat and run into someone willing to lend a hand thanks to a previous favour.
I would help too :) if they were nice about it
ReplyDeleteI love helping people, people just has to ask. Just be polite and smile :)
ReplyDeleteYou're not wrong (or maybe only a little bit wrong). Likely there's a distribution and you're on the nice end of the distribution.
ReplyDeleteNo fuck off.
ReplyDeleteSo this person is in the program and couldn't find the information themselves??
ReplyDelete10/10 would talk about math for hours any day
ReplyDeleteWould definitely help. I think most people would too- people are generally nice. :)
