OMG: A good 5% of the people in my program/year are either married or engaged. Average age 22. I'm happy for them, but at the same time I wonder if they're rushing into it cuz they're religious and want to avoid sex out of wedlock.
Can confirm, the multiple married couples I know (at age 22) are white trash and do not have (heavily) religious backgrounds at all. More of a "marriage will save the relationship" mentality. Lol
They're just seeing their loser friends from their hick hometowns getting married on Facebook and following suite because they feel that they should. Pfffft. Amateurs.
Some people do get married young. Why judge them for it? There's really no reason why two people shouldn't marry if they're over the age of eighteen and love each other. It's only a fairly recent development that people wait so long to marry.
Perhaps our generation is starting a trend where we get married younger and actually stay married. Waiting until you're older only makes sense if your priorities dictate it so.
Older people get married for the wrong reasons all the time. Plus, my boyfriend and I have been having sex since before we were official and we're still about to get engaged. I assume most young couples are in about the same boat.
Considering how so many young 20-somethings these days still live at home in their 20s, have student loans to pay off and need mommy and daddy's help makes me question their decision to get married at such a young age....
Just from my experience.. most of my religious friends get married older than most people
ReplyDeleteI see the opposite in my friend groups, the only people I know who are engaged at my age are all religious.

DeleteMaybe just worry about yourself

ReplyDeleteAbout to be engaged? Is this a fingers crossed kind of situation?
Delete.... the real mystery is how they can afford a ring, wedding, etc. while still in school
ReplyDeleteHad a friend who bought it with OSAP money, hope the CRA doesn't find out :P
DeleteFunny how these days getting married at 22 seems too young while most likely our parents, and grandparents married around then.
ReplyDeleteMy friends all married when they finished school.
Listen up you little shit. You have no idea what is right and wrong so how about you shut the hell up and worry about yourself? Arrogant asshole
ReplyDeleteRelax, I don't think any of what OP said was arrogant, I think he was just curious.
DeleteNot sure why you give a crap, but thanks for the concern mommy :).
