OMG: I work in the SLC. On Aug 2nd, the building started flooding because of
all the rain. I went around the building and found at least SEVEN LEAKS;
coming out of lighting fixtures, out of the ceiling, or from little
cracks in the roof.
And this isn't the only building that leaks,
either: RCH had massive flooding a year ago when the pipes in that
building burst, and you might as well walk outside in the rain instead
of walk through DC because of the number of roof leaks.
You would
think that a school that prides itself on its innovation and ingenuity
would be innovative and ingenious enough to pay for maintenance on its
existing buildings before it starts building new ones, or funding solar
powered cars, or pampering engineering students. This university is bad
and it should feel bad.

ReplyDeleteyou whiny fuck
maybe if the other faculties brought in some money
ReplyDeleteBuildings are hard. But seriously, DC is full of maintenance problems. The leaks are just the start. Go ask a CS prof how much they love their building and you'll hear all sorts of wonderful stories.
ReplyDeleteI guess that's what you get for trying to be all funky?
Oh come now. UW is on par with MIT says post #19582.
ReplyDeleteFunny thing is several years ago they had contractors 're-seal' the roof. It did not fix a single leak!
ReplyDeleteThe university fucks its students so hard in so many ways but that's life right.
ReplyDeleteRemember, just like in regular civil infrastructure, there is always money in the capital budget and NOTHING for operations, maintenance and wages. Quite interesting how that works, same with the hospitals, they build new fancy buildings all the time but there is no money for nurses. It's a good topic to research.
