OMG:It makes me frustrated that having a good time these days always seems to hinge on drinking alcohol. Are people really so boring they can't hangout for a few hours without it? What happened to card games and just talking?
1) We're all a bunch of young adults, who have only recently became able to get smashed legally.
2) Drinking is something you generally go "out" for. Some people drink at home with others, but thats not the majority. Lots of people play card games and chill with one another, but they don't usually "go out" for that. That could be why it seems like no one does it; you don't see them.
The way I see it, card games and talking can be reserved for when I reach my thirties and my liver cannot handle copious amounts of alcohol. Not to mention, I probably wouldn't even have that much time to drink that often.
But since I'm in university and I'm at an age where my health and liver are not my biggest concern, I might as well take advantage of it while it lasts. And people are not boring because they want to drink. They're not boring because they want to drink. Time to let go of your ambitions and party.
Drinking isn't necessary for a good time, especially when you're with close friends. University is a good time to meet a lot of people, and that is much easier to do when you're drunk.
I'm really glad I drink, because I've actually made a lot of great friends who now that I know them better, hang out sober too.
These days? This is the exact same as how its always been, nothing's changed. There are people who go out and drink and have a good time, there are people who stay in with friends and have a good time, there's even people who stay in with friends and drink who have a good time. If you don't like going out and drinking but all your friend's do, get different friends. Don't be so arrogant as to assume that your observations indicate some deeper trend of more and more people living that lifestyle. All it means is that you aren't very good at choosing who you hang out with.
Source: I love staying in and playing card games with my friends, who also enjoy it, but at the same time we enjoy going out on occasion.
I think there are a couple of reasons for this:

ReplyDeletei.e. i don't really want to listen to what's going on in your life, etc
My friends and I never drink, we go out, walk around , talk, play random games. We always have a blast!
ReplyDeletea blast of sperm to the face maybe
DeleteNot true, it's just not as publicly known when people stay in and do non-drinking activities. I have fun either way.
