OMG: The country is facing an employment problem with an expectation mismatch between workers and employers. Young people are struggling finding work while the TFW program runs amok. We are having record personal household debt with inflated housing prices. So what does our government do? They bring in a "Common Sense Firearms Licensing Act." Exactly what we need right now. Smh.

  1. The Government doesn't view us as a priority because we don't vote in high enough numbers, you can start with the Municipal election in October.

    1. Yes all the idiots who don't vote because they are too busy or are apathetic are to blame. Everyone please vote!

  2. The TFW program that's getting phased out (the low wage portion) now, in communities where unemployment is >6%?

Also, don't cite single statistics that incite alarm. Sure, personal household debt is at record levels, but on the whole people are wealthier, too.

Be glad you're at Waterloo, though! >75% of Waterloo coop graduates are employed and making >$50000/year, within 2 years after graduation, according to the most recent performance indicators.

  3. Millions of Canadians are firearms owners and this got rid of a bit of the sillier bureaucracy regarding the transportation of restricted firearms while also ensuring that every prospective firearms owner has to take the Canadian Firearms Safety Course in order to get their licence (Before you could just challenge the safety test without having taken the course). I agree that it's not top priority stuff, but it does affect a large proportion of our population, and working on one reform doesn't necessarily slow down the government from working on other issues.

  4. That's a totally rational statement to make: we have economic problems, therefore dealing with anything else is stupid.

The government has more purpose than simply regulating the economy.
