OMG: FR 151 has a postcard project for the end of term. The example postcard,
in Spanish, is about the rape and sexual abuse of a 13 year old Mexican
girl at the hands of her stepfather.
Is this online or on campus? I don't remember doing that assignment on campus but the course could've changed. Also, is this in the Deux Mondes textbook?
The professor thought their students would be mature enough to discuss a serious topic such as that one. Obviously, they were wrong. But why a postcard in Spanish in a French course?
Are you serious? Students should be "discussing" this in an introductory French course?
To the prof's credit, he took the thing down, with the explanation that he pulled it from the textbook that he got the project from as he didn't scan any examples from the past two semesters he taught. Seems reasonable to me. I didn't even realize this was a thing until I saw this post and it was pretty mortifying. (In particular, having looked at it, I can guarantee you the author of the card had not experienced anything like this and it's really awful to trivialize, desensitize, misrepresent sexual assault, *especially* of children.)
I can only imagine what the front of the postcard says...

I'm also in this class, he did it because it was the only one on his computer (?) and because he lost all of last years postcards.
