OMG: Can someone explain tinder to me? Is it full of people just interested in sex or is it more geared for dating? What are people's experiences with it?

  1. I'm a girl who is an avid user of Tinder. In my experience, it is generally geared for sex, even the concept of liking someone based on a few pictures and a sentence or two is very shallow. But when you know and understand that people on there generally just want sex, it is great. I've hooked up with four guys from Tinder, and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a casual hookup.

  3. Don't expect anything serious from it, but sometimes it just happens and you meet someone you really hit it off with.

  4. Do people actually use it? Of all the matches I get, a small fractions of them chat and the chats don't last long...

    1. Why match in the first place if not attractive enough to message back?

    2. It's a numbers game to some. You just swipe everyone left, then go through all your matches from most to least attractive when messaging. I don't do this (well, I'm a girl so I'm the one responsible for filtering it seems) but I've read this is one reason. Other reasons might be that they're just doing it for fun or because they have nothing to say to you based on just your pics other than "hey, how's it going" and that usually leads nowhere.

My guess is the first one for the majority of unattractive guys. Not sure about the attractive ones though- probably a mixture. Kinda sad but at least you end up getting what you want in the end and much more efficient and less awkward than rejecting as many unattractive guys in real life

    3. My friend also found that after she left it for awhile everyone who swiped yes for her matched even though she never swiped them (either way). So I mean....

  7. 4 again. I know I'm late to the party but I thought I'd post an update. I decided to give Tinder another chance but with a different icebreaker. I'm not going to post what my icebreaker was, (Don't want to give away my secrets!), but I posted an icebreaker that started w/ a compliment and end w/ a phrase that could make her either confused, mad or both.

Did that w/ my 1st match in over a month since I reinstated my account and I got her # in the span of 15mins. Kid you not.
