OMG: Can someone please stop the VP Education before he blows all of Feds money/resources on promoting the provincial election? I think the provincial government has it covered.
you're a fucking waste of oxygen. He's actually doing a public service trying to get students to vote and engaged! Now go educate yourself and try to not be completely useless, apathetic and completely disengaged....
She was clearly the strongest debater. I don't agree with everything she says, but Jamie Burton was just trying to hide in the Liberal government's past and Stacey Danckert seemed like she was already resigned to losing. Tracey Weiler was solid at debating, but not nearly as strong as Fife.
I'm probably going to vote Fife because all the parties suck and she's the candidate I feel most comfortable with as my representative.
If you're curious, Feds has budgeted approximately $1,500 for the provincial elections--this is promotion and marketing to encourage students to vote and to learn about the elections, and to also hold events including Drink Your Vote, Candidates Debate, Advance Polling, Elections Day promo. Because the election is taking place in the summer, Elections Ontario has withdrawn the amount of money it would typically invest in getting the student vote, because they think most schools don't have students during the summer--whereas uWaterloo has about 11,000.
Don't worry, this election is not going to make Feds broke.
If you're voting at your home riding or in Kitchener-Waterloo the event Drink Your Vote should still apply to you : https://www.facebook.com/events/1407259356223727/?fref=ts
question as a first time voter...if I go to the advance poll on June 5 at SLC, would they have a list of the candidate names for ONLY the Waterloo riding area? Cause my home riding is actually in Toronto :S
If you want to vote in KW come to advanced polls. If you want to vote for your home riding, vote in DC on June 12th, and bring ID with your TO address!
@OP: MathSoc regularly budgets $1500 to give people a scrap of food on "spirit days" and you're bitching about this? You know FEDS budget is on the order of *millions* of dollars, right?

ReplyDeleteI wonder if you have trouble composing yourself in real life too....
Deletethis reply is just so over-the-top, it is hilarious
DeleteWhat is he doing that seems like it's too much?
ReplyDeleteI'm glad he held the debate! Showed exactly why I shouldn't vote for Catherine Fife. She was awful.

She was just so condescending! I couldn't stand her.

Does Feds realize some students don't care about the local candidates simply because even if they vote they would be voting in their "home" riding?
ReplyDeleteHow does that matter? Party coverage and encouraging students to vote still applies.
DeleteImprint's been doing a weirdly good job too..

DeleteFeds just cares that you educate yourself on voting, whatever riding you're in, and actually vote. :)
Deleteyou can also vote in the Kitchener-Waterloo riding if you bring a piece of mail that shows you live in the riding i.e hydro bill, lease agreement etc.
DeleteYou can actually vote in either your home riding or the KW riding. Just bring ID with your address (even if it's not a KW address).
DeleteTo 5a. As an Imprint reporter who spent almost all of last week on election coverage, thanks!

ReplyDeleteIf you live in Waterloo for the summer you can vote here.
DeleteYou vote where you are physically present unless you request a special mail in ballot.
