My sister went to Schulich and I would say go there as long as you don't mind York too much. The program itself isn't much more fun than AFM seems to be here but its a much more reputable degree.
AFM. Co-op experience at Waterloo is unlike any other. In the field, a UW degree is extremely well recognized. I would say it depends on whether you want a business or an accounting specific focus.
It all depends on what you're looking for and what you value most.
The coop experience is incredibly valuable and can definitely put you ahead of the game, but some people have more trouble than others (obviously).
That said, Schulich networking can be very valuable as well.
At the end of the day, the material taught is still going to be a huge bore and suck regardless of which program you choose. It'll likely be very similar as well. I have friends across programs and universities and the differences between business programs isn't very dramatic. I'd say, as one of them, it's all just as much bullshit.
What do you derive more value from, and what exactly are you looking for from your university experience, and how well does each school or program fit into that is the better question.
If you're going into Accounting, Financial Analysis, Corporate Finance or Quantitative FInance, AFM is significantly better. Schulich doesn't have co-op there either, and the students are just as miserable, if not worse, so 'environment' or attitude isn't an advantage for them.
Not sure why people are comparing Queen's, Ivey or Rotman to AFM. They serve different purposes. For accounting none of those are better, but Ivey and Queen's are better for finance and consulting while Rotman is better for consulting.
To add, my point is basically that if you are dead set on going into accounting or finance, choose AFM. If you want to do HR, consulting, marketing, then maybe Schulich is the better choice.

ReplyDeleteIvey, Schulich, Rotman, Queens >>>>> UW
ReplyDeleteI agree with the above statement except for Queens.

Uw is for the elite. Don't come here unless you can stand the heat
ReplyDeleteWell put.
Delete"Elite"? Give me a break. Waterloo is just very good at cranking out work monkeys. Very few people from this place will actually end up being "elite".
