OMG: So back in January I slipped down on ice and sprained my ankle. While I was sprawled on snow, unable to get up not a single passing student offered to help me. A group of Asians came up and told me to get up, when I said I couldn't they actually jumped over my legs and went off! Like seriously where the heck is our generation going. -_-

  2. I wouldn't blame our generation as a whole, just the many that go to UW.

    1. Yeah you're right. I did meet some great, helpful people afterwards

    1. because sitting on ice is a fun recreational activity and someone down doesn't need any help getting up

nahh sounds like socially inept watereloo students strike again! with their lack of ability to evaluate their surroundings

    2. Lol good one :P
And yeah people just roll around freezing their ass in snow, clutching their legs and telling people that they slipped and can't get up just for fun.
I swear it was totally fun, such a great experience, as was dragging myself to SLC's pharmacy afterwards for bandaids. Yaaaay.

  6. You probably could have gotten a better response if you asked something like "could you guys help me up?" instead of expecting people to know your intentions. It's unfortunate that decency is becoming scarcer but I've learnt not to expect anything from anyone.

    1. also obliviousness. I find it better to think of people as stupid rather than malicious.

    2. There's something called Bystander Effect, if you want to get helped, it's best to just call someone to stop and help you.

    1. What part gave it away? The fire breathing penguins or the rainbow cockroaches? That's tots normal.
OP, get over it, shit happens.

  8. Why did you wait so long to post this? If it is still bugging you 5 months later, you really need to learn to get over things. Yes, it sucks that no one helped you. Yes, people should know better. But seriously, shake it off and move on. Just because people were not being nice and helpful that day, doesn't mean it is like that every day.

  9. Was it really necessary to say "a group of Asians" instead of a group of people? Did their background mean that much to you to have to mention it?

    1. If you are angry and frustrated about anyone and need to vent out..I would likely do the same

  10. I broke my leg a while a lot, everyone was so nice about it. Opening doors, offering to carry my books and walking me to class (strangers) A lot of people asked what happened and etc. (also strangers)

You just bumped into the wrong people

  11. I saw someone slip around March time. I helped her up and walked her home. Having been on the falling end a lot before, there's no way I wouldn't pass by someone sitting down in icy conditions without asking if they were okay. People are generally just dicks though.

  12. If you couldn't get back up under your own power from a simple ankle sprain you're probably quite fat, OP. People likely didn't offer to help you up because they didn't want to throw out their backs while hoisting your tremendous girth up off the ground.

  17. When I fell and rolled my ankle a dude ran over the icy hill I fell on to help me up. Later while I limped to school 2 people asked if I was all right. I think you're probably cursed maybe?

  18. Just get up yourself. The generation isn't doomed because a group of students assumed you'd be ok without your mommy to kiss you better. Shit happens.

  21. Fcking lazy ass Canadian liberal expecting help from every direction. I grew up in a poor city in Asia where no one gave a fck about me or my family. High violence and poverty. The only thing that would approach me if I was lying on the ground hurt would be stray dogs, probably to chew me the fck out.

Now I am here in Canada, kicking your ass in school, taking your jobs. Because I learned not to cry about my misfortune for 5 months, rather try to change it.
