OMG: Why do people sell used bikes for $100+ when you can easily get a brand
new one for that price range? Like, are they really that stupid? Do
people usually by those?
Depends on the bike really, but yea i see these used supercycle (really cheap bikes) being sold at $100 on some sites. I don't think they ever sell tho.
2. You're the one not very bright. Look at Toronto listings and you will see the "exact" same models being sold 1/5th the price. And I'm talking about those used, dirt cheap bikes being sold for at least $50+
I have spent about 100$ on an old "beater" bike. I'd rather buy a well-maintained used bike than a new one. It means basic essential repairs have already been done and if the bike still works, it will probably continue working. A crappy new bike will still need more adjustments due to cable stretch and so on. Sometimes an older bike comes with the accessories like lights and a rack that would cost extra on a new bike.
I don't think I've ever seen a brand new bike sell for any less than $350. I bought my bike used for $110 and it's done me well, I don't see why I would ever shy away from it.
It costs me $80 some times to fill my truck with gas that lasts two weeks max. A few hundred for a bike is not a bad idea. The bike centre's auction is coming up soon. Check that out.

Quality? I can think of reasons
ReplyDeleteOP isn't very bright.
ReplyDeleteYou can also get a new cell phone for that range. You'll only be able to make calls and texts though. Bikes come in different tiers too.

Most of the time a good, well maintained, and used brand-name bike is way better than a piece of junk from Sportcheck or Canadian Tire.
