Life is too short
to do all the things that need doing. The world is too big to see all
that needs to be seen. Sometimes I look at where I am now and see all
those above me, better than me, farther than me and think "will I ever
amount to anything?"
By comparing yourself to others.
ReplyDeleteWhy don't you let those who come after you be the judge of that. For now, you need only worry about marching on.
ReplyDeleteIf you measure success with how much wealth/fame/status you've achieved in this life, then yes you're probably a failure (like me). But if none of these matter (and they DON'T), you're fine.

ReplyDeleteLife is too short to see and do everything you need to or want to. But it's precisely because life is short that you should strive to achieving as much as you can.
ReplyDeleteAll any other human being wants in life is to be happy. How they achieve that fleeting happiness likely isnt going to be the same as you. Don't let the image of success and happiness blind you from the things that truly make you happy.

ReplyDeleteI want to be the best that I can be and hope that someday I can DO something to contribute to human progress. Yet I worry that I'll never amount to anything. What keeps me optimistic is the belief that if I work hard now, >20 years down the road I may see the fruits of my labour?

This thought has also been bothering ever since I graduated, which is very recently. I can only hope to achieve something meaningful, and that desire is overwhelming me.
