OMG:

Dear bearded guy that was just washing his feet in one of the sinks in the lower level toilets of DP: What the fuck...?

this OMG

  1. Anonymous Anonymous Says:

Some people carry out a cleansing process before praying. Sensitivity wouldn't hurt. I'm sure if you asked politely they would gladly explain the situation to you.

  2. Anonymous Anonymous Says:

^ WOW ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!? NO ONE cleanses that way!! Don't insult people who are religious OK?!

    Dumbass!!

  3. Anonymous Anonymous Says:

^ ALSO - I know you're thinking that 'bearded' = Muslim..so that's why I said don't insult. You don't know and Muslims aren't dirty..seriously, no one washes their feet in a toilet and calls it 'cleansing before praying'.

  4. Anonymous Anonymous Says:

Calm down and take a joke. You'll be amazed how much your blood pressure will go down.

  5. Anonymous Anonymous Says:

    Maybe he stepped in poop

  6. Anonymous Anonymous Says:

    @4

2/3 here. LOL! Ok I WILL BE CALM!! BUT I WISH PEOPLE WOULD NOT SAY SUCH THINGS!! IS THAT TOO MUCH TO ASK?!?!

  7. Anonymous Anonymous Says:

    4 here

They probably weren't trolling anyways. Maybe they're referencing a less organized/popular religion.

Freedom of speech - we can insult any religion we want no matter who likes it. I'm an atheist and get my fair share of mockery, so don't worry.

  8. Anonymous Anonymous Says:

dont be stupid, he was probably using a water bottle and pouring the water down so it doesn't land on the floor. Not dunking his feet in the toilet.

  9. Anonymous Anonymous Says:

@3 and 8: It says he was washing his feet in the sink, not in the toilets.

A pathetic number of people at UW lack reading comprehension skills, it seems.

  10. Anonymous Anonymous Says:

@9, A pathetic amount of something is very few when I believe you wanted to say something that implies "many". You lack semantic skills, it seems.

  11. Anonymous Anonymous Says:

^Pathetic is being used an adjective to mean causing or evoking sadness.

Words have multiple definitions that require you to evaluate their meaning based on context? No way!

  12. Anonymous Anonymous Says:

RE-reading phrases would probably be incredibly helpful before jumping to the comment box to post.

  13. Anonymous Anonymous Says:

The problem would have ended if you just asked the guy politely what he was doing. I'm sure he would have answered...the bearded guys are pretty awesome and nice people.

  14. Blogger RL Says:

    I don't see the problem...
Sometime I come home, realize my feet are sweaty and wash them in the sink because I don't feel like firing up the shower.

  15. Blogger Chloe Says:

@RL: right, same. I'm not sure why people assumed this meant washing his feet in the toilet when it clearly states otherwise. OP is using the word toilets instead of washroom.. at least that's how I took it.

  16. Anonymous Anonymous Says:

    Comprehension skills, people. Seriously.

  17. Anonymous Lalu Says:

As an avid foot/sink washer, I don't see the issue. I wash my hands when they're dirty, so why not the feet too? Put your best foot forward!

  18. Anonymous Anonymous Says:

Yeah, its a sink. Just because people usually use it for hands doesn't mean there's something wrong with using it for your feet. Its perfectly equipped for it as long as you're flexible enough.

Any time you think someone is being really weird, stop to check you're not just narrow-minded.

  19. Anonymous Anonymous Says:

I believe that respect for ones religion is extremely important, however, I believe that there is a time and place for everything! First of all, to my knowledge the prayer room on the 3rd floor SLC has a hand/foot wash station that is specifically meant for the purpose of pre-prayer cleansing. Secondly, it is also important to be mindful and respectful of the customs and culture of the county that you are in. In Canada it is not a normal practice to was ones feet in a public washroom sink. If a Canadian was to go to a middle eastern country, as I have, you are EXPECTED to follow/ abide, to some extent, the cultures and social norms. While Canada is a free county, it is important to be mindful and understand why some people may be annoyed by certain practices...If I was waiting to use the sink after using the bathroom and had to wait for an individual washing their feet, I would feel a bit annoyed. Finally, if you do choose to wash your feet in the bathroom sink, IT WOULD BE MUCH APPRECIATED IF YOU WOULD ATLEAST WIPE DOWN THE COUNTERS INSTEAD OF LEAVING PUDDLES ON THE COUNTER AND FLOORS, as it would be a more pleasant environment for fellow students and cleaning staff.

In closing, I HAVE NOTHING AGAINST anyones religion or culture, I feel that they are identity markers and define who we are, however I believe that we can all get along if we show some consideration towards each other...BOTH WAYS

^See, narrow-minded. Sinks are for washing things with running water. I wash my face sometimes after a long day. People look at me funny. That's not even something people don't do in sinks!

  21. Anonymous Anonymous Says:

I cannot comprehend how the comments to this post ended up going in the direction they did. I really can't.

It's a sink, and people wash parts of their body at sinks.

Usually it's their hands, but sometimes, for one reason or another, a different part of the body needs to be washed. What's the big deal?!

Sometimes the part may not even be dirty, but the washing is part of a religious ritual.

My thoughts on the feet washing on campus:

There is a prayer room somewhere on the second floor of CHP, I haven't bothered to find out where. A while back I was getting annoyed because the floor of the men's room would be slick with water from people washing their feet. Then one day, it stopped happening, and I think it was because someone said something to some of the new students about cleaning up after themselves.

    On ritual cleaning:

PLEASE, FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS CLEAN, DO NOT LEAVE YOU LOTA NEXT TO THE TOILET!

    That is all.

  22. Anonymous Anonymous Says:

as long as people clean up after themselves... im cool with it

  23. Anonymous Anonymous Says:

I am pretty sure DP has a lot sinks in the washrooms. Just relax. He is probably washing his feet for ablution before praying.
Unless he is creating a mess or hampering you, I can see no cause of distress caused, OP.

Anyhow, It's a sink! He can wash whatever he likes unless he is causing a mayhem. So let it be

    And guys stay on topic!

  24. Anonymous Anonymous Says:

@21 - you solved the mystery why the floor of the mens bathroom on 3rd floor SLC is always soaked. I was always wondering why...

  25. Anonymous Anonymous Says:

^ As a Muslim who regularly prays in the SLC, I just wanted to apologize on behalf of my fellow Muslims for the conditions that the SLC bathrooms are sometimes in. This bothers us too, and we're doing what we can to make sure people clean up after themselves/don't get water everywhere. As #21 said, this is probably what happened in CPH too. If anything else bothers you (e.g. I know that sometimes it gets loud outside the silent study rooms in the SLC on Fridays - we're working on it), please don't hesitate to let someone in the MSA know, or just walk up to one of us on Friday and kindly remind us.

As many on here have said, there's no need to jump to conclusions, thereby offending more people...we can all get along with better communication. Yaaaaaaaay.

^NIGGA PLEASE!!!! I PLAN TO DEAL WITH PEOPLE AND LIFE BY MAKING POST ON A ANON FORUM...AND IF YOU CAN'T VISIT THESE FORUMS AND FIX YOURSELVES....WELL...WHAT THE FUCK?

  27. Anonymous Anonymous Says:

    ^
    why so much hate man?
The guy said that they realized their mistake and are taking corrective measures!

Why are you adamant on creating and complicating issues instead of solving them?
    1. This is MOSTLY an anon forum.
    2. If OP can write being an anon, so can people comment
    3. Many people do not care about their ID being revealed, it is just easier to click the Anon name and post the comment rather than write who you are.

    So please, relax!

    ^Dude... #26 is so clearly a troll.
