People need to shut the fuck up during lectures. Is this normal university behaviour, or is it just a UW thing? It's incredibly rude, both to the professor and to the rest of the students in the class. Guess what, jerks? We all paid just as much as you did to be here. Why do you get to distract every other person in the room because you can't wait to gossip with your friends?

I'll assume you're a first year. It does go away somewhat in upper years, but yeah people need to fucking shut it. Stop rustling papers and shit too.

Yeah, how do so many people not get common courtesy? In one of my classes, a girl who wasn't even in the course barged into a (fairly important) lecture to talk with her friend in such loud Chinese for like half the class. She continued even though a bunch of students asked her to shut up, and finally left when the prof asked her to stop talking.
I can't even believe that level of obnoxiousness exists -_-

I have been to a previous uni before. I can definitely say that it was really NOT chatty, even in a 600+ person classroom! I can't believe how the students at UW are so disrespectful in class!!

I don't care if I get a sour reputation among my classmates next year, but I'm seriously going to stand up and ask the class to SHUT the hell up! We should start a new movement!!

Story: I was in a psych class sitting in front of this white guy who could not shut up about how "awesome" last night was and how he got so drunk and puked everywhere, blah blah blah. I was just thinking, nobody cares...
