OMG:
If enough people complain about how useless PD2 is, shouldn't CECS get rid of it or change it? At least PD1 was marginally useful. I'm writing my report on learning styles because I didn't like the other options but I've discovered that there is no evidence supporting learning styles so this report is a complete waste of time.

I'm in the same boat as you! I hardcore procrastinated and just began my report yesterday.

I did learning styles as well last year. I found plenty of info, so I just bullshitted my arguments.

I wrote my report about how learning style theories are scientifically unsound.

PD2 is bullshit.
OP, I think I know who you are from your writing style and phrasing.

@3, Don't steal my bit. I've already staked my claim to the topic "Learning Style Theories are Scientifically Unsound - Here's Why". And I was bragging about it first!
In fact, I was coming in here right now to brag about it!
Don't steal my thing!
Legitimately, though, it's not just that there is no evidence the learning styles system makes sense. There are piles of sources indicating that they are weak.

Still better than PDEng

The whole PD system has actually been changed since even 5 years ago. You guys are taking slightly harder/more useful courses than I did.

At least you don't have to write it about your own writing style. That was ridiculous.
You should have just chosen professional skills. It's the easiest one IMO.
Also I've revisited some of the writing tips for my actual work term reports. So it's not totally useless.

You're lucky you don't have to do PDENG.
July 5, 2012 at 12:05 PM
Newb.
Students have been complaining about Professional Development courses since PDEng.
Literally the whole engineering undergraduate class complained about it and nothing happened.
PDEng only stopped existing because of petty, internal politics between the faculty and administration. It had nothing to do with the opinions of students. It was then consumed by WatPD.
If you want to get rid of a WatPD course, you'll need to do it from the inside.

Nah, they won't do a thing.
July 6, 2012 at 12:21 PM
No. Quit co-op.
July 7, 2012 at 1:07 AM
Wait, you don't have to write about your own writing style now?
