You guys do know that Jobmine is closed overnight as a way of forcing even the keenest students to sleep, right?
It has nothing to do with tech aspects. There are some students who check Jobmine religiously - dozens of times per day - to get the best interview spots, etc and the university wants to force people to ignore Jobmine during sleeping hours.

@2 How about an alert system... with SMS/email notifications... wouldn't that help with that obsessive checking and make it more effective?

I'm sorry, but #2 is perfectly wrong. Jobmine is blocked overnight because it needs time to process updates and interact with the student registry in Quest, which unfortunately it has to do one student at a time. The technical fault isn't CECS' though, it belongs to Oracle/PeopleSoft, who are the sadistic bastards responsible for building Jobmine.
